Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Yeah but i try to travel cheap. Renting scooter is not cheap depending on where you are. I'm now in paris and I've checked the uber scooter for rent, it's like €1 to take the scooter then €0.10/min. Each journey could easily cost €2.5. Then going out would cost me €5-€10 depending on where I...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I'll find out I think. Because the weight is so tiny that it overcome a lot of the problem with standard hub drive even with freewheel (there is drag even if it's small) as well as being 1/3 of any typical kit weight. Your BBS or whatever crank drive are great but they are adding quite a bit of...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

It's a good point and I may as well just take the bus everywhere.... or pedaling a bit and sweat my shit out wherever I go  could we still give it the benefit of a doubt? I've checked the review of the kit and it's not so bad...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Have you seen the Qiroll kit? https://qirollshop.com/product/qre-muteb60/ It's a friction drive small enough to fit in a pocket. The total kit is under 2kg. It does fit most bikes and I just need a small screwdriver to install it on a bike. It looks like it can be done in 10 min or so. I'm not...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I've found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001995469401.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.43503c00PkdfGR&mp=1 Seems perfect for what I need actually. Very compact as well. Now... if only I could use my USB C charger to ALSO charge my battery that would be even better. Can't manage to find any...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Not at all. Bear in mind I'd be restricted to around 200wh. So not an enormous capacity. Maybe 300wh if I feel lucky. Assuming using the Qiroll 24V or 6s setup, I'll carry 6s2p or 12 cells. Each cell would cost between $5 (reclaimed) and $8...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Yes that's very much the plan. Get a disposable bike with a disposable kit. A $300 kit + $100 battery + $100 bike... i could lose any of them at any stage it wouldn't be a big deal.

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I'd love to travel with a brompton. But its a too expensive piece of kit and having been stolen many many times my phones (4x) and my ebikes (4x) on various situations, this is not something I'd want to risk again. - what if the brompton luggage is lost in the airport? - what if it's stolen when...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I'm about to buy the quiroll kit and I'll create customs battery up to 100wh. I noticed the battery plug has a 3 pin connector: https://a.aliexpress.com/_vFa1TO Anyone has an idea why? It wouldn't be a ground pin? What could it be? Just want to know if it would work by just pluggin in a this...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I think I found the solution. Get the Qiroll then use this: https://a.aliexpress.com/_uurahY I can just remove the 21700 cells separately when I get into the plane. Carry 12 of them lol

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Actually looking again the Rubbee is 2.8kg even with the lightest set up. The Qiroll is 1.2kg inclusive of battery. So Qiroll is definitely much better in term of portability

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Thanks yeah maybe its going too far...... This rubbee thing looks good maybe I should get it. Its quite bulky though. I sent them a message to check about the laptop charging. I still prefer the Qiroll because its way more compact and hidden so less likely to be stolen as well as being easier...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

By the way, how can airline know whether my battery is 100wh or more? Could I just print a stamp on a 24V6AH battery to 24V5AH? And write 100wh? https://qirollshop.com/product/qre-muteb60/ The battery is barely over 100wh and its not that big at 190x60cm. I could just tell them it's a power...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

I mean it'll start with Europe but I don't want to be limited to it. I may decide to go to thailand at any stage! I ve also checked the cost of borrowing ebikes, its quite expensive, i better buy and sell a bike there

Its a good idea to get 12V pack that I can take with me and build them up. Any idea where I could get that? Would have been happy to buy these ligo stuff at 12V!

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

The pb with the switch bike is that I need to carry the whole wheel. And I plan to go around in hostels and airbnb. Stay 1 month there and there. That would around europe I wouldn t have an address so there would be nowhere to ship before I arrive....

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

The plan is to get a cheap bike at destination and just carry the battery and the ebike kit. I ve been looking at various kit. This at 250w may do it as well but I dunno how portable it is and if its really only 1.5kg all inclusive...

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

Yeah could be an option but then its getting bulky to have a 12v adapter then another adapter to usb C. I need to have as compact setting as possible. Also, it looks like the Qiroll option is 25V and the grin ligo is 36V... not making my life easy!

Ebike kit I can carry in airport and charge my Macbook

That's true but planes are really convenient. And e-bikes can't be carried in any easy way even via bus or train. Better keep it light to avoid transportation issues
