Cycle life testing : LG INR18650 MJ1 vs Sanyo NCR18650GA

Thanks for the updated results "The LG cell seems better suited for cycle life at high discharge rates" Could you confirm this by doing a complete discharge at 6A? ie 4.2 to 2.5V @6A

    Ezee freewheel clutch stuck

Nice one, that regen idea sounds good to. I am running a grin tech phasrunner and CA3 so I am pretty sure I will be able to do the regen. I haven't had time to try anything yet, maybe on the weekend

    Ezee freewheel clutch stuck

OK, that sounds like the easy way to go, whacking the tyre without removing anything. Are the Mac clutches interchangeable with the Ezee?

    Ezee freewheel clutch stuck

Thanks Ypedal, I have checked the teeth and they are fine. I am going to try cutting a notch in the clutch disc then lodging a screw driver in the notch and hitting with a hammer. I will clamp the axle in a vice while doing this.

    Ezee freewheel clutch stuck

Thanks guys. The gears and the internals of the motor still look new. No water damage or rust. d8veh, I would be tempted to try the hammer method. Are you saying you whack the tyre of the bike wheel with the hammer to free it up?

    Ezee freewheel clutch stuck

Hello, I was riding my bike today and the motor was making noise while slowing down. After some investigation it turns out the freewheel is no longer working. I disassembled the motor in my garage and took the clutch out - cant get it to freewheel. It seems the clutch is held together with...

Hi, what was the postage time to Aus?

    Two Wire BMS

Thanks, that is good to know. I have been charging through the discharge port without realising it as my phase runner controller came with a charging connector and I was using that. This of course uses the dishcharge port as I realised the other day. I will keep using it with my high power...

    Two Wire BMS

I have a question about charging through the discharge port of a three wire BMS. People have said that you can charge at higher currents and the HVC wont work, but what about the cell balancing? Will the BMS still balance the cells when charging through the discharge port?

Cycle life testing : LG INR18650 MJ1 vs Sanyo NCR18650GA

Thanks for the data YouYoung. I think it actually shows quite a bit of information and from the way I read it the cells have so far only lost about 6-7% of capacity after 350 cycles which seems ok. Have you done the full cycle tests 4.2v-2.5v after 500 cycles? Do you have any updates to the data?

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

After advice from grin tech I adjusted the "PLL Bandwidth" parameter in the edit parameters list. Increased it from 0.38 to 0.9 and set current bandwidth to 3000 rads. This seems to solve the problems of shuddering and phase over current faults for me.

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Hello, my phase runner is cutting out when I go over bumps in the road with a fault 9, instantaneous phase over current error. Any advice on what to try with this one? I am using an eZee fast winding hub motor, sensorless. CA3 with power control throttle and a power limit around 700W.

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Got my new phase runner running yesterday. I initially had some shuddering when applying the throttle after the bike was moving. This was solved by setting the current bandwidth parameter to zero (default is 1000), guess it must be some interference with my cycle analyst power control. One...

About Cyclone VS GNG Gen 1&2

Be aware that if you run the cyclone kit at 36V the stock 44t chainrings that come with the kits are geared too low so your legs have to pedal too fast to keep up with the motor - see previous posts from boostjuice and others. Cyclone do offer a 48t chainring upgrade (email paco at cyclone to...

About Cyclone VS GNG Gen 1&2

In that plot does Wo = Watts output and Win = Watts input? With my headline motor I am not seeing the big power drop at high RPM if this is the case. I see the power input (via cycle analyst) stay fairly constant until near the maximum RPM.

About Cyclone VS GNG Gen 1&2

Thanks for the reply. Are the fins in your picture the ones you are recommending? Cyclone supplies them as well as AFT. AFT also supplies a more heavy duty variety

About Cyclone VS GNG Gen 1&2

I am considering buying the cooling fins for the headline motor from AFT. The thing I am not sure about is whether I will need them for my motor. I am going to use the cycle analyst and 5k potentiometer to have an adjustable power limit and probably the highest power I will go to will be 1000W...

About Cyclone VS GNG Gen 1&2

Regarding the cyclone BB mounts - I have had nothing but trouble with the chain tensioner. the one that came with the kit broke after about 10 minutes of riding. The jocky wheel must be the cheapest on the planet and the plastic broke apart. I replaced this with a shimano one off an old bike...

Cyclone Cadence - gear up human speed?

I was thinking of something more like a transformer that can step-up or step-down AC voltages with minimal losses. the only trouble with using one of these is that you need to change the number of turns of wire on the coils to change the output voltage, or maybe have a switch to flick between a...

Cyclone Cadence - gear up human speed?

Ok, thanks for your reply. That must be just a poorly worded description by Kelly then if they mean duty cycle limit when they say % of battery voltage. I did actually put an oscilloscope on the thick blue and yellow wires from the kelly yesterday and saw some sort of a square wave (with some...

Cyclone Cadence - gear up human speed?

I have a 36 V cyclone kit with the programmable kelly controller. One of the options in the Kelly software is a speed limit % and in the description of what this function does it says it is limitting motor voltage to a percent of battery voltage. This sugests to me that the 48V battery could be...
