I love it! It is small, light & cute. Do the tires have a good grip on wet rock? The knobs seem a bit small. Are they made of a good compound? Tubeless or not?

Yes, the response curve of a pot can be distorted away from linear, by adding a single resistor between the wiper and the ground connection.Depending on the value of the resistor relative to the value of the pot, the curve can be "curved" away from linear. Check the article here...

Just to be sure we are on the same wavelength, does "ramping" for the throttle refer to either: Slew rate limiting of the throttle signal, which limits the rate of acceleration of the motor, or: Non-linearity in the throttle signal, which produces an exponential response curve, resulting in less...

I'm very sorry guys for having kind of abandonned you, I stopped receiving notifications (probably because I forgot to visit after a notification...) and I've been very busy on all kinds of projects including house renovations, so I kind of forgot about this thread. The location of the pegs is...

Electronics can easily be restored after being under water, lots of videos available on youtube. Just search for: Restore waterlogged electronics

"Solve" meant trying to find a cheaper courier that still offers normal delivery times. Vasilii could maybe call them and try to arrange special rates with their business representatives, as this won't be a one-time shipment but rather regular shipments from a company. Rates are always...

I'm all for this. But if DHL's prices are exhorbitant for small packages, won't they be also for large packages? Wouldn't it be better to try to solve the shipping cost problem before we embark on a group buy? Another thing is that (in my case) Canada Post is still practically stalled. I...

Ah yes, that's right. Damn, life is complicated nowadays. It was so easy in the 70's, when I was young. 8)

    Trial riders need their clutch?

I totally agree with that, and the fun part is that you can also go fast when you want, although it's not as comfortable. And trials bikes are much kinder to the trails, they don't rip up the ground nearly as much as the other bikes, you're not being hated as much as on the other bikes...

Pete said: "I love the idea that Altair has talked about of rolling backwards downhill while applying forward drive with throttle alone - that would be awesome, but I'm guessing it would be brutally hard on the motor?" No it's not, really. Not harder for the motor than holding still. And the...

Pete, the shortest connectors I found, that have the highest current capacity, are the 8mm bullet connectors from Aliexpress. I insulate them with a piece of shrink tubing.

I've decided to remove the AstroFlight motor and install the BHT that was in my first bike, in its place. That first bike has now been reconverted back to its former use, a standard pedal fatbike, and it saw good use in the last month, helping me regain some strength in the old legs. The motor...

Hi Vasili, would there be a way in the Nuc to obtain a copy of one of the halls signals for use as a Tach signal in my setup? I presently use the Energus TinyBMS coupled with the EbikeAnalyser app on my phone that displays all the electrical parameters, including speed, based on the number of...

Yes Pete, your calculations for speed were correct. The QS 90 70H with 10 poles has very probably 12 slots, which will give 60 steps per revolution. Not bad. But it is indeed long. BTW, the torque of a motor goes linearly with its length, but goes with the square of the diameter, so for the same...

That video cannot be called "trials", obviously. One thing to keep in mind is that you will never attain the theoretical no-load RPM on the bike. Today, it seems that all we see are low pole count motors, because theoretically you can go faster with them. But for trials, I would much prefer...

This project looks real good! To limit costs and time, you could try it without the clutch first, you might actually like it, the acceleration is not bad at all. And it's adjustable through software anyway. And by going with suspension, you won't need the widest tires, so the limit of 4.5" won't...

I run the Kelly KLS-S which a sinewave controller. It can run the Astro pretty well but I'm not sure it would be useable with the usual motors. You might go with one of their other non-sinusoidal models instead. My KLS-S doesn't have the throttle delay defect, but I don't know which other one...

Rims! Like I said previously, they are Carbonfan 100mm from China, but I forgot to mention that they are tubeless, so no hassle with pinched tubes. The tires "pop" nicely onto the rims, and they allow you to run very low pressures without slipping on the rims. (And tearing the valves as on tubed...

Pete, I'm using a 1KWH pack and I'm good for 1½ hrs. Depending on your age and weight, I don't see anymore than that needed for a nice trials wring out. While checking out frames, be sure that they can take a 5.2" tire. There aren't many. Check RSD in Canada. BTW, I ride a Small frame. It's...

Thanks Pete, I will answer your questions in the order they were asked. 1- The Nucular will certainly be a better option, I have one on order but still 2-3 months to be shipped. The Kelly KLS-S is a sinusoidal controller, and it does a good job on the Astro motor. Very smooth delivery, quiet...
