    Meanwell Chargers?

Does anyone have any experience with these chargers? I have been putting 20 - 30 miles on my bike (daily) and it is always a time crunch to charge the battery when I am home between school and work. I saw that Meanwell makes some pretty decent looking portable chargers. After I graduate in...

Is it okay to use longer wires?

The wires coming out of the controller seem like they are way too short. Is it alright to splice in 6 inch pieces of wire of the same gauge, or will the increase in resistance cause more problems?

    Broken Freewheel

Earlier, I went to pedal the bike and the cranks just slipped. Now, the chain turns, but the the rear wheel doesn't spin. I'm pretty sure the freewheel broke. Any advice on where I can get a new (and decent) freewheel for the bike? Do I need any special tools to remove the old one?

    Battery troubles, looking for tips

So I put together my bike, plugged in my charged battery, and then... nothing. I had tested it once before just to see if it worked, and everything worked just fine. It's a 48v Lithium ion battery made from 18650 cells in 7p13s configuration. I called the battery vendor and he helped me check...

    My First eBike (95% Complete/Pics)

I just finished putting all the stuff from a YesComUsa kit on my bike, and I'm now I'm waiting for the battery to charge up so that I can test it out. Originally, I was going to use a Mongoose Ledge 2.2. I had the whole kit installed on the Mongoose and was just waiting on my battery arrive in...

    Battery (12AWG) vs Controller (14AWG)

I was just working on my bike kit not too long ago, and I noticed that my controller wires and battery wires are different gauges. The battery is a 48v15ah from www.calibike.com and the controller came with the YesComUsa kit (48v,26a controller). Given that the wires are a different gauge, am I...

Are quick-release wheels safe for e-bikes?

I have wondered about this ever since I started this project. The motor on my bike is in the rear wheel, but the front wheel is secured to the fork with a quick release mechanism. After thinking critically about it and doing some reading, a quick release mechanism actually seems like it...

    Dropouts/Rear Derailleur/Washers with YesComUsa

Here is the problem (I think): when I get my wheel into the dropouts on the bike, it seems like it is WAY too far forward for it to be safe. Hopefully someone can offer a second opinion. Here is a picture of the derailleur taken from inside the frame. Notice how the groove in the derailleur...

    Yescom kit arrived: controller question

I am so pumped to get this thing put on my bike. Just waiting on the battery, and it'll be ready to ride. I have a question regarding the controller from this kit, though. I read on the forum that the kit was supposed to come with a 30A controller. Mine came with a controller that reads "Max...

    Just bought my first kit

My girlfriend usually has better judgement than I do, and she said an eBike sounded like a good idea, so the eGrin is on  I ended up going with a YesComUsa 1000w 48v rear hub kit and a 48v15ah Li-Ion battery (http://www.calibike.com/). Originally, I was going to go with a kit from...

    MAC motor & voltage rating

I think I'm about to pull the trigger on my first eBike kit, but I have a question. Is the voltage limited by the controller; is it limited by the motor; or is it limited by both? I am looking at getting the "Upgrade EM3EV Vers. Mac 500/1000W Pick'n'mix Kit." Whenever a motor is selected...
