Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I was probing around with my oscope and found that purple wire, relative to chassis ground, blips up to 4.5V for 0.2s every 2s. This is considered one LED blink. If I unplug my throttle, I get 15 blinks = error code 211 = throttle short to gnd. The purple wire has about 1.5kΩ of source...

LED attached to RS485... what? I attached the full surron wiring diagram. As you will note, RS485 connects the battery, motor controller, and display on the same bus. Reiterating, the LED must be connected some combination of those two Comm lines (purple or blue wires) and ground...

Here's the pinout of battery 6-pin connector. I imagine the LED is wired from one of those Comms to ground, probably with a resistor in series. I imagine one could simply remove the tape on the debug harness and see how the LED is wired. Reference...

Code repository...programming a micro.... huh? You're over complicating it, lol. It's just LED that blinks X flashes. LED blinks vs error code / meaning: https://sur-ron.ch/pdf/Light_bee_L1e_blink_code_EN.pdf I'm trying to figure what two wires the LED goes between. If there's some...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does anybody know the pinout / wiring diagram of the surron programming/diagnostics cable? It has an LED that will flash out error codes. I lost mine many years ago. Trying to trouble shoot faults but don't want to wait around for shipping...

I also installed the Luna belt kit. Listening to your recording, I can confirm i hear a very similar buzz. It's kinda annoying, but I'm not gonna throw the baby out with the bath water.

I did an experiment to find maximum charging current that the surron BMS will allow: 20A is ok, but it will shut off at 25A. Thought this would be useful for those experimenting with a non-surron chargers.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've been using my own power supply to charge the surron at work for the past week - it's been working fine. But today I arrived with 14% charge and my power supply won't charge the surron battery. I measured 53V on the surron charge connector and main terminals. Anybody else experience this...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

@Joachim, @captain387 - thanks for links, quite helpful. :) Why do they list tires as "Front". Something to do with load rating perhaps? Maybe this applies to more powerful motorcycles where the rear tire would see more sheering force. You guys are using these in both rear and front I...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Looks like there are no practical options for 19 inch (rim size) street tires. Only thing I can find is the Avon AM6 Speedmaster Motorcycle Tire, 27-19 for $167 at bikebandit.com https://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tubes/motorcycle-tires/avon-am6-speedmaster-motorcycle-tire/p/3324?b=44372&CRTP=psc...

Neo, thanks for feedback. I'm in the US too. Looks like shipping is ~50USD. How long did it take on average? You have any means of verifying the cells are legit?

JP spot-welder, FET-switched, timed adj. pulse

Traces were milled with cnc machine. Not pictured is a Teensy board that controls the show. I send it a request for via serial port for X energy on the caps. The Teensy charges or discharges caps to a voltage corresponding to E=1/2 * C * V^2. Pulse timing is also set via serial port...

TaK's Battery Build - 18650 w DIY CD Welder- Lessons Learned

Tak, nice work! And thanks for the pics and explanations. With 40-50J welds, that back calculates to 30V. Prior to your post, I would've guessed 30V welds would result in blow outs. But looks like you're having good success. Check out this for calculating/guesstimating inductance of...

Tom you are kidding right? People have been using 12v - 24v lead acid and coat hangers to spot tack weld for decades Wow. Lol. Please show me an example of this. Last time i checked coat hangers are made of steel, which is 10x worse conductor compared to copper.

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

It took a bunch of nagging, but i finally got the NTC thermistor (temp sensor) spec from Leaf. Type = MF5A-4-60MM R25 = 100k B25/50 = 3950 I think some people reported their motor came with R25=10kΩ installed. But IDK if they actually measured it. Luke measured his...

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

I have a Mini-E "4kW" controller. It only can do max 56A at 45V, so this is 2.5kW. I measured current with my own ammeter to verify adaptto was reporting correct current. Anybody else have this problem w/their "4kW" controller. It's over promising and under-delivering.
