    Help with Chargers

Just closing the loop on this. Got the Mean Well HLG 185H 54A and wired it up. Everything is working fine. Set the amperage output to ~3A and and the voltage to 54V. Battery charges no issue. The Mean Well does get pretty warm by the time its done charging (painful to touch for more than...

    Help with Chargers

Thanks Moto! Yea, thanks to the helpful people on this thread, I learned I'll have to dial in the HGL during the first use (to the correct voltage and current), and then its 'set it and forget it'.

Thanks all! Ordered the Mean Well HLG-185H-54A.

Using a meanwell HLG power supply with BMS battery systems?

I think wineboyrider is referencing my setup/question. The charger that came with my battery supplied 3A. The Mean Well will supply 3.4A, so I think it'll be within its specs. I'm not actually sure what BMS is in my battery pack...

    Help with Chargers

Thanks everyone for the advice! One last sanity check before I buy: Would the Mean Well HLG-185H-54A 54V 3.45A 185W (https://amzn.com/B01800LJHE) be compatible with my battery pack? It has the right voltage and has slightly more amperage than the dead charger. It doesn't say anything about...

    Help with Chargers

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have a recommended HLG model #? The HLG's don't seem to call out that they're Li-Ion compatible, is that something I need to be concerned with? If I have a 48v battery, should I be looking for a 48V charger? Or should I be looking for a 54V charger?

    Help with Chargers

Hi Endless-Sphere! Ya'll were really helpful when I was spec-ing my ebike conversion, and things have been going great. Unfortunately my S180W charger burned out yesterday, so I need a replacement. And I'm a bit hesitant to buy one because initial research shows that different chargers are...

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

After about a month of riding, the BMSB-built wheel had spokes coming loose like crazy. After every other ride there'd be 2-6 spokes that were completely loose (could re-screw the nipple on using my fingers). Took it to the shop to get rebuilt. Needed new spokes custom ordered from Phil...

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

Build almost finished, just have to route/hide wires and waterproof. http://imgur.com/3GqbMu0 Decided to zip tie wires to the frame and coil any excess wire in a small frame bag.

Wheel size is set correctly, haven't checked with GPS. Battery is at half, so that explains that. Thanks! Now time to route wire and start water proofing.

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

Emotate: Thanks for the response. I'll keep an eye out for a higher wind 48v or 36v replacement. Question for everyone: 1) Does the Max Speed setting do anything? It defaults to 25kph (only displays max speed in metric), which is ~15.5mph. I've up'd it to the max (72kph), but the engine...

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

Honestly, for now, I'm good with it as it. I'm in an urban environment so I don't expect to have many chances to get up to full speed. And the pickup from a standstill is nice.

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

Finally got around to mounting this setup (q128h 48v800w 201rpm, 48v 11.6ah Panasonic bottle) yesterday. Initial results: WOT (no pedaling) on flat: ~16mph WOT (no pedaling) up a good incline (ramp up to a pedestrian bridge): ~12mph WOT (no pedaling) down moderate decline: just under 18mph

    6 pin BMSBattery connector

Looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. Jack from BMSB got back to me, he claims those Julet connectors are 'special' and that I can buy more through BMSB. That's annoying.

    6 pin BMSBattery connector

Anybody know what type of connector BMSBattery uses for their 09 battery/controller<->display/throttle/brakes connects? And where I can buy some replacements? Looking to swap out some of the 'stock' components with different components (throttle and HBWS) and I would like to minimize the...

Worth switching from 14T to 13T freewheel?

I'm putting a q128h 48v800w rear motor on my 700c wheel. My current freewheel is a 14-38T MegaRange 7speed. My front is a single 44T chainring. I understand that my legs are going to be flailing once my motor is installed and pushing me along. Would switching from a 14-38T MegaRange to a...

    BMSBattery/ECityPower Experience

Log of my experience with BMSBattery.com. Lots of anecdotal experiences with BMS Battery (BMSB) on this forum, thought I'd add my experience for posterity. Intent is for this to help future first time ebike kit buyers on what to expect. Bottom Line Up Front: 4 July 2015: Placed an...

    My Crosstrail Disc build

That's a shame. Just emailed Jack (BMSB) asking about that. He's been very responsive so far, responding to emails within 24 hours (I forgot a few of the accessories in the initial purchase and he helped me add them via the $1 shipping or parts line item). No worries. That I can do. Luckily...

    My Crosstrail Disc build

PresTurtle: This thread is fantastic. Thanks very much. I bought a very similar package this weekend (same battery pack, the q128h 36v800w rear hub motor, same torque arms and hidden brake wire sensor). If you don't mind, I have a few questions in preparation for my build: Was the setup...

Newb with Question on Bottle Battery with BPM2

To follow up, I ordered the q128h (36v 201rpm) and the Panasonic bottle battery last night. https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-conversion-kit/644-q128h-36v800w-rear-driving-e-bike-motor-wheel-conversion-kit.html and...

Newb with Question on Bottle Battery with BPM2

Great answer, thanks! So a 36v q128h will be able to handle a 48v battery and 20a controller without issues? And that's neat that you can use pedal assist and a throttle at the same time.

Newb with Question on Bottle Battery with BPM2

Also, you recommend a pedal sensor. Can you have a pedal sensor while using a throttle? What benefit does a pedal sensor provide a throttle?

Newb with Question on Bottle Battery with BPM2

Pardon my ignorance, but why a Q128 over a BPM2? I can't find much info on the Q128 and the BPM2 seems to be a popular option on this forum. And the Q128 is only ~$20 cheaper than the BPM2. Also, what's the difference between a Q128 and a Q128h?
