recommended RC-style motors for ebike applications?

Am curious if there's a handful of smaller BLDC motors that have been well adapted to eBike applications? (under 1500W) Ideally in that $50-100 range. I see the Astros - but a bit pricey at $400ish - and many, many youtube videos of other things that don't really give an idea of how long...

difference between VESC and KT controllers? (open source)

Thanks for reminder on ease of more control aspects that can be integrated into the KT -- it seems a few of those have more solutions with the configuration tools available (throttle/display) - like folks using a joy stick for doing throttle/regen braking. .

difference between VESC and KT controllers? (open source)

If wanting customization / FOC / all the good stuff having been developed in both, Kind of curious why one would opt for the big KT controllers? The VESCs are higher voltage (normally) - much more available in the US, the programming software seems more refined - and hardware is fully open...

recommendation for DD hub motor for 20" wheel

Hi, any relatively inexpensive (<$150) hub motors that are known as good? (USA) There seemed to be a lot of vendors on ebay / amazon before in the low $100s for DD hubs, but these are all at $200 or so now, complete kits, and I only need a hub. Preference toward better, known quality. Weight...

    BBSHD or Cyclone 3kW?

Is this true? So likely (46'ish/12) * max500 rpms, at 52V. So roughly 125 max RPMs, given a 46t front chainring. Correct? Thanks

    BBSHD or Cyclone 3kW?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, what is the cadence range of the cyclone 3000? I can't find a good answer to this question. I've seen the BBSHD said to max out at 150 rpms at ~52V (true?), BBS02 at 120 rpms, but can't find same spec for cyclone. Thanks!! Does anyone have a fancy curve...

8mm connector -- for xiaomi m365 -- where to find?

Having trouble trying to find these connectors, OD is 8mm, there's a 2 mm center pin in this like a standard 5.5mm/2.1 (female), ID is about 6mm. No ebay, etc. for this specific size. It's the same plug shown on this ebay listing for a charger...

regeneration with "cheap big" hubs -- just the controller?

There are a lot of the $150-$200 kits for a 36V-48V rear/front hub, the heavy ones that are like 15 pounds or so. Many don't say if they support brake regeneration or not. But I'm curious - for these, like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JCZWKW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2 is it usually...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

A lot of bits and pieces on the tsdz2 in many places - couldn't find answer to: (clarify -- 48V , 500W "newer" model, B) - is the max cadence that the motor will assist the ~78 rpm? And is there a way to change that upper limit? I may have read that this ramps down to 0% assist between...

hoverboard/scooter lithium chargers -- "normal" Li chargers?

Thanks again for confirming -- I replaced the same brick with another, almost same price, and the other works fine. Open output voltage 42,4 V , constant current to same load (36 V starting pack, 10s) was 1,44 A . I didn't leave it running long enough to watch the termination curve, but indeed...

Bulk charging via digital DC-DC boost Minghe BST-900W

Is it known if this thing has a diode before the output, so that one isn't needed if charging a battery with it? The manual says that it's ok to charge a battery - no mention of a diode. Just to disable the output (SET), and then connect battery, and then enable.

hoverboard/scooter lithium chargers -- "normal" Li chargers?

I bought something like this (2A 36V charger), https://www.amazon.com/EVAPLUS-Adapter-PowerFast-3-Prong-Connector/dp/B01NBTIB66/ref=pd_sbs_468_3? to charge a 36V battery. I measured the unloaded voltage as being high ~65V, which I thought may just be there because unloaded, but then tried...

where to buy BMS? reputable aliexpr / ebay seller?

Seems many of the packs being sold are integrating the same style BMS; I tried to find this in the sticky information : Which vendors are the reliable ones for BMS's? Here are two that seem to have BMS's that have popped up in packs that are being sold. Thoughts or comments on these? I...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

The flyback/freewheel schottky diode should allow the inductive energy to be dissipated amongst the Diodes -- do you not believe that its properly be implemented in the 6pence design?
