Quality front fork suppliers from China

Hi guys, my company is on the verge of finalizing our electric bike design and plans on starting manufacturing by early next year. I'm hoping you guys can help narrow down a good front/rear suspension supplier as well. For the front, we need a set of forks for 20x4 tires and hydraulic lockout...

Has anyone built a vehicle based on the "Open soure vehicle" architecture?

They are now known as Open Motors https://www.openmotors.co/. Their entire chassis design was available for download, in both 2 and 4 seat variants. I'm just wondering how difficult it will be to actually create a vehicle on their platform. I feel the body structure would be the hardest part.

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi guys, this project is back on track, except I'm making moped-esque cycles, much like the juiced scorpions. The specs have been finalised at 250w, 750w and 3000w, for the Indian/EU, North America and "off road/moped" markets respectively. Tires will be 20x4 fatbike, like the scramblers such as...

Motor axle too small for dropout

Hi, thank you for your reply, We're going to work on this as our solution, looks quiet feasible. Thank you!

Motor axle too small for dropout

Hi guys, my team and I are trying to build an electric moped using a 2kw electric hub motor. The problem is that the motor we have is for 150mm dropouts, while the swingarm we have has 210mm of gap between the dropouts. is there anything we can do to modify the current motor? I was thinking of...

    Bare bones electric bike

Yeah, something very similar, just a little more stylish and robust enough to make a good electric bike. One step through frame and one low step or normal frame. Here's the tag I have in mind - "a mature bike, with a not so mature price tag"

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi guys, I've settled on using a classic roadster design, with 250-750W motor options and most likely a single speed design, with the option of adding a cassette gear and shimano dereiuler. Will update when I start designing the frame. Battery will be custom made to keep as low a profile as...

    Bare bones electric bike

There is one electric cycle which is "pure electric" as in, the pedals don't drive the rear wheel, they act as a generator and charge the battery, which in turn drives the rear wheel. Quiet interesting...

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi Nelson and Chelo, thanks for the awesome feedback. I'll be doing some research about bike frames by visiting various shops in my city to see what's available on the market and what seems to be more viable. I was thinking I'd buy the entire bike kits from the manufacturer without the parts I...

    Bare bones electric bike

I want something people will actually want to buy... lol If that involves something a little gimicky, why not? But you're right, I need to concentrate more on the "Go: than the "Show"... But the "Show" is what sells... See why I'm so confused... lol

    Bare bones electric bike

Is this not a good candidate for an electric bike? Or something like this where I could possibly hide the battery pack in the down tube? With Suspension Uber Sexy! But I'm sure UBER PRICEY as well... Some of the other "cruiser"esq designs I like a lot...

    Bare bones electric bike

Just realized that the Mid Drive motors need 36/48V current, can;t use a 24V battery pack.

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi, thanks for your quick reply, I'll have to discuss that with BaFang to see how the output can be controlled for the Canadian customers. Also will look into the European regulations to see what they allow/disallow. Thanks again!

    Bare bones electric bike

I've come up with a basic feature list which I want to offer for the bike. I'm thinking of having three packages ranging from a very basic one, to a "less" basic one... Please critique.

    Bare bones electric bike

I'm very confused about which frame to go in for. Cruiser style? Or a Hybrid frame? or maybe a Fat bike frame? Fat bikes make ideal E-Bikes because of their hefty structure and thicker tires for better suspension. Any suggestions please?

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi Lightning, thanks for your reply. When I say "Bare Bones" I mean, it will have all the basic necessities needed to use the cycle. Not entirely sure about lights, definitely a bell and definitely some sort of storage. I'll definitely look into the possibility of a tool kit as well. What does a...

    Bare bones electric bike

Hahaha :D I like the idea of the long extension cord!!! When I say bare bones, I mean something without smart phone connectivity or GPS and stuff. Just a simple hop on/hop off bike which will take you to your destination with the least possible fuss. A battery pack which won't burn rubber and...

    Bare bones electric bike

Point duly noted, thanks a ton for your input. I've received a quote from BaFang for the motor-controller kits and there isn't a vast difference between the 250 and 350 models. Are the batteries required very different? Maybe I could offer three models at different price points with 250/350/750W...

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm actually not planning on selling in India and only targeting the export market to America/Europe. I'll be targeting commuters looking for a low cost alternative to what's available on the market.

Currently in touch with BaFang for complete EV drive kits. Only look at Mid-Drive for now.

    Bare bones electric bike

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to the world of E-Bikes and was wondering if there was a demand for a bare bones electric bike within a budget of ~750$? Something like the Sonders bike, but with realistic figures and expectations. Probably a 750W motor and a 10amp hr battery pack. Aluminum frame...

Taking Charge: Let's Develop the Products That We Want!

That's something that I believe is changing over time. Also I think a more "bare bones" approach is needed to keep the costs down and then maybe add the bells and whistles at an additional cost? I don't think EVERYONE needs a WiFi enabled Bluetooth connected "smart" cycle which keeps track of...

Taking Charge: Let's Develop the Products That We Want!

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, but not new to the world of manufacturing. I actually became a member to gauge the market for electric bikes/mopeds/motorcycles. It seems that whatever product is available of a good enough quality, is priced beyond the reach of a majority of the population...
