chvidgov... I knew I had problems when the charger was putting out 45.5 V but the voltage at the battery was only ~40V. The BMS was not letting the juice flow.

I am now running without the BMS. All cells have the same resistance and my range is greater than my commute, so I dont know the max. I commute 22km. I am monitoring the cell voltage closely. If I find a cell with a low voltage during the constant voltage charging phase (~3.6V or less), I...

I went to work this morning with my ebike and no problems! It seems that loose connections was my battery problem. Fully charged pack voltage is about 40V. This seems low to me, only 3.33 volts per cell. There must be a better way to secure cell terminal connections, like using lock nuts...

Latest update: After a full night of charging, I disconnected the BMS and checked the cell voltage. Each cell is at 3.35 V precisely. Total pack voltage is 3.35*12=40.2 Question: is my pack fully charged? How can I know besides riding until the BMS cuts out? I think I understood what was...

:( Problem not solved! After charging overnight, pack voltage is only 40V fresh out of the charger. Charger puts out about 45V. I dont have a cycle analyst so I never checked the actual capacity, but when new, my pack was at 44.8V and I could easily ride 30km. Any suggestions?

Ouf! I opened my battery pack after checking with EBIKES.ca and all my cells are at 3.2 V. I found the problem: half of the electrical connections were loose. I carefully torqued them all, put a dab of liquid paper on the threads as they do in the aircraft industry to see if the nuts move. I...

The pack is wraped with heat-shrink black plastic. I will check with EBIKES.ca before cutting it open.

C R A P ! First glitch: battery pack cuts out after a 5 km ride. I had to pedal back home, way too much work ;-) Measured voltage : 6.4 V ??? Plugged the charger for 5 seconds and voltage is at 39.4 V. After a full charge, the voltage is at 45 V. I guess I am in a situation where cells are out...

Today I passed the 1000 km mark! I dont use my car anymore to go to work, what a pleasure! My 36V 12Ah pack works just like when I bought it. The only incident I had was cranking the throttle while NOT sitting on the bike... The bike made a nice wheely, I think it hit the ceiling...

Quick update: I did 520 km with my LIFEPO4 pack with no problems. Each trip I do is 22 to 25 km and I recharge every time. :D

With my 2.5Amps charger, it takes 3 hours to recharge after a 22 km ride. Voltage before the 22km ride: 40.3V Voltage after the 22km ride: 39.4V I dont know the actual Ah. Ebikes.ca tested the packs to verify the capacity. I have pack EC0006.

    LIFEPO4 from Ebikes.ca

I have now done 160 km with the 36V-12Ah pack! My 22 km commute to work is really nice. The major concern I have are the potholes, cracks and other canyons I can find on our roads... My average speed is 25kph because of all the stops I do but my steady speed with very light pedaling is 32kph...

    LIFEPO4 from Ebikes.ca

I did my first 20 km ride with no loss of power. So far it seems very good. I did not install the brake handles with cut-off switches that came with my motor kit but used the connector in the controller to add a on-off switch instead. This way I can turn the bike off without having to unplug the...

    LIFEPO4 from Ebikes.ca

I rode my bike today and it is awesome!!! It is my first time on an ebike and the feeling is really great. The controller is programmed for 32 kph and I was going at that speed all the time! It felt really fast! It was raining and my custom made fenders worked perfectly. Later this weekend I...

LifeBatt cells now available for ebike use

Since the idea behind electric vehicle is mainly to be more "clean", what is planned for all the Lifebatt cells when they are at the end of their life cycle?. Can they be recycled? :?:

Deal or no Deal... UPDATE I'VE BEEN CALLED !!!

Salut Doc! Super.

LifeBatt cells now available for ebike use

Gary, very nice! Where is the duct tape??? I like it very much but I see one detail that should be addressed: The exposed nuts are a short-circuit waiting to happen! Using nylon cap nuts would work, or molded plastic side plates with deep recesses for the nuts.

    Duct Tape E-Bay Lifepo4s???

Hello Don, Did you mean to write 12V/40Ah? or are these your new larger cells? The duct tape packs are tempting, even if they dont last very long. When they do eventually fail, lifepo4 technology and price might then be very good! :D

    New Aptera video and info

I asked them if I could get a kit in Canada but they said it was not possible. What a shame! I also propose to do winter driving tests and they turned me down :(

LifeBatt cells now available for ebike use

Yes I know! I am astonished that while we have Phostec and cheap electricity we dont already have more EV's on the road :? Last week I went to see a presentation made by ZENN motors engineers. Cool car. Its a shame we cannot buy it yet in Quebec. If EESTOR is for real, this ZENN will soar!
