    I do, preventing surges etc, but my non-fancy brakes easily handle those. I am a huge fan of e-bikes but have found that electronics around braking and shifting don't add to the experience, they just add complexity.

    I'm new to e-biking but have 40+ years of riding bikes, mostly fast. In my opinion the whole braking topic is a bit overdone. Brakes are so good today it barely matters if you have e-brakes or even disk.

    My 11.5AH 52V at 80% charge did 12 miles of decent hills tonight (probably 1000 feet total) before dying. It was all bike power as I did not break a sweat. However there were few stop signs and no traffic lights on this route. Stop & starts take a surprising amount of power.

    :mrgreen: I'm getting 10-12 miles with a 11.5ah at 80% if I'm using a lot of throttle, which suggests a 6ah might give you 5-6 unless there are very few stops or hills on your ride.

    No doubt and much appreciated. There are trade-offs with gearing though. Credible people have tested the BBSHD's limits and believe it can reliably handle a lot more than 30.

    Very true although I was crouched pretty low when testing speeds. I think 30mph is top speed for throttle on a hybrid.

    Thanks tychay. Those were my thoughts exactly. Above 30 mph, you can feel the wind and tire friction rise exponentially. So the difference between 30 and 42mph top throttle speed is enormous and I don't see how a road bike vs. hybrid could cause that gap. My BBSHD is from Luna, so that's not...

    Finally had a chance to test my hybrid on a flat surface with no wind. It went 30 mph on both throttle-only and PAS 5-only. Using throttle and PAS 5 together, with enough runway and some effort I could get to 35 mph. Only time I surpassed 40 mph was on a good downhill. I'm very satisfied...

    Thanks tychay, that is helpful. I did a lot of poking around before going with the BBSHD, and yes, there are loads of 40mph claims around the forums, YouTube, etc. I even read one fellow claiming 30 up big hills. He may have meant kph not mph (30 = 18) but that's still more than I'm getting...
