    OK — I am suspicious of my soldering the more I read up. Instead of splicing, I may just connect the motor wires directly to the cradle terminal. Am I correct in thinking that since the battery is going to "1 LED" and then "resetting" to full, there's a fault (surge/short/bad connection)...

    I guess the best is to remove the 12 gauge altogether and solder the 16 to the terminals....

    I was planning on using heatshrink crimps, but didn't realize — the battery wires are 12 gauge and the BBS02 motor wires are 16. Should I just solder them together? Tips?

    Thanks for the tips. I've been hearing a lot about the BBS02 heat issues. I also came across this in research. The price difference is significant enough that I'm still leaning that way although BBSHD ~is temping... :)
