Best way to connect a 2nd battery ?

You wont get the same range as using 2 batteries in parallel. The faster you discharge a battery, the lower percentage of it's rated capacity you can get from it. Putting the 2 batteries in parallel halves the discharge rate. Many batteries have their capacities rated at a 10hr discharge, so if...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I removed the bolt on the left crank and noticed there was no Loctite on it, so I cleaned it, applied blue Loctite, and did it up as hard as I could. Left it for a day to cure, then did a 10km test drive today and it hasn't loosened yet. If that was the problem I am releaved as I really didn't...

Best way to connect a 2nd battery ?

Leave the controller alone! Open up the batteries and solder on some connectors you can attach to a splitter. Remember to charge the batteries separately whilst disconnected from each other, else you risk cell imbalance.

Best way to connect a 2nd battery ?

When I run 2 batteries, I just use an XT60 splitter cable which has 2 male and one female connectors, and plug both batteries into it. First I make sure both batteries are charged up to exactly the same voltage so I don't have one trying to charge the other at a great current causing damage...

2022? Lightweight Front or Rear Hub Motor for Road Bike to eBike Conversion

TSDZ2 are quite heavy and need a fair bit of maintenance and spare parts compared to a hub motor, I have one, and that's why I was looking at this thread to see if there are better less maintenance options. I basically use the eBike to do grocery shopping, so I figure a 250w front hub motor...

    Best/Favorite KT Display?

So how do you make a KT display? Surely they start of as something else and are turned into a KT display, or is it purely a KT controller configuration?

    Best/Favorite KT Display?

I really like the XH18 mini color display that is used on the TSDZ2. Does anyone here know how to wire up an XH18 onto a KT controller?

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have a TSDZ2 which I bought last year, after about 900km of riding a ratcheting noise start to develop during the power stroke of the left pedal, upon inspection the crank arm bolt was a bit loose, I tightened it, and after about 5-10km the noise came back and it had come loose again, a bit...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have a TSDZ2 36v 350W version with a XH-18 display. What parts do I need to replace to convert it to a 48v setup?

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have a tsdz2 36v 350W version about 1,000kms on it going fine so far. I bought 2 different 36v 10Ah battery packs for it so I could have one on charge whilst riding with the other. One pack is 18650 10s4p https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124474635082 The other is 21700 10s2p...

Mongoose Envoy Cargo BBSHD Jumbo Shark

Drop bars on a cargo bike, never seen that before. Most of your battery burn will be trying to go fast up hills, nothing that aero is going to fix. Go a few mph slower and you will save a heap of battery. If you want to know how much try this simulator. https://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html

Mongoose Envoy Cargo BBSHD Jumbo Shark

Can anyone tell me where to get handlebars like the one used on the Mongoose Envoy? First glance I thought they were a Jones H bar or a Origin8 Strongbow, but then I realized the mounting was such that you can tilt them up an down to change the rise/reach easily which looks perfect for my...

    Are 24 x 3 tires disappearing?

Thanks, I ordered a pair of rims from Classic Cycle, it was 48euros shipping, which is a lot, but I am struggling to get wide rims in Australia. Lots of fat bike rims here, but little in between. eg, the Australian Alexrims distributor only brings in up to 23mm they don't even have the MD40 in...

The DH rims looks good, that reseller doesn't do international shipping. I am in Australia. Do you know anyone else that sells them?

    Are 24 x 3 tires disappearing?

I am looking at building up some 24" x 3" wheels, seems to be a reasonable number of tires still around in that size. Not sure what rims to use, I have to go 32H that's the only limit. Can anyone suggest some appropriate rims?

12T MAC motor and high current

I just took delivery of a MAC 12T motor from em3ev and I was wondering if someone could tell me what the white wire is for on the 6 pin hall sensor connector from the motor?

Questions concerning S12S / S06S controllers (options, current control, etc)

I have been mucking around with the simulator at ebikes.ca the past week trying to model up a MAC 12T for my cargo bike. One thing I noticed quite early is that to get 250W motor power out, you need to draw about 350W from the battery, that's because the motors are not 100% efficient, and the...

Thermal paste on hub motor windings. Dumb idea or dumb idea?

Sounds like a classic waste of time. Move to another neighborhood where there are less hoons, the promotion of eBikes doesn't need more young men driving recklessly, it just results in more restrictions and policing of all eBike users.

Thermal paste on hub motor windings. Dumb idea or dumb idea?

Thermal paste is meant for filling in micro surface imperfections between two flat surfaces, it's meant to be used very thinly. Just coating copper windings with it will probably do more harm than good. There are fero fluids to improve hub motor cooling, just use one of those.

    E bike Gearing Why Bother

I was thinking about doing something like that, I only have a single 34 tooth front chain ring and it makes it hard to keep up with the speed the motor wants to do during PAS. Changing to a two cog ring sounds like a good idea, but I heard the chain might come off unless you have a front...

    E bike Gearing Why Bother

A lot of countries have a 250w eBike limit eg. Australia where I live for example, allows 200W on throttle or 250W if you only have PAS. Most people opt for the latter, which is a drama starting on a hill without a throttle to help. In that situation you need gearing, a 250W hub motor won't...

    Best 52V Charger?

To save money by making use of AC to DC power supplies you already have, and allow you to set the output voltage and current to your needs. The OP said he had a bunch of old chargers, didn't say what voltage though so I am just guessing he has a range of them.
