A bit disappointed by my BBSHD (from EM3ev)

Hillhater, 2old: It does leave me uncertain about the future... Not a nice feeling. I have been testing the motor the best I could and there was no strange noise, behavior or anything. Motor is super silent. If I was in the US right now, I would have ordered with Luna (or another local...

A bit disappointed by my BBSHD (from EM3ev)

Yeah wasn't thinking of the pedaling cadence and I am pretty satisfied with the power right now with my 15s at 30A. Won't do anything for now. If I can't handle the PAS, will probably just fix that part. Thanks a lot

A bit disappointed by my BBSHD (from EM3ev)

I have read here that 18s pack were fine (after switching caps), could you point me towards the problems I might encounter? Current I wouldn't go over 45A and I'll try to have an external switch so I could switch it on only when I need it. But yeah, it's too bad that we don't have motor temp on...

A bit disappointed by my BBSHD (from EM3ev)

Thanks guys, I am leaning towards the transistor mod, I might change the caps and up the voltage and amps while I'm at it. There is no way I'm removing PAS altogether for now although i do use the throttle a lot. If I would (it's true that the delayed response is also annoying), the grin...

A bit disappointed by my BBSHD (from EM3ev)

So let me tell you first that if I had known what would happen in advance I would still have placed the same order because of the lack of alternatives, the BBSHD is a great motor and EM3ev seems to be a great company but I still have a bit of a let down taste in my mouth... I had 2 problems...

Designing a flat, structurally sound battery pack

I didn't think of PCB boards, I will have to see if I can find some 30mm long and how much they flex. To be honest the glued cells are actually much stiffer than I expected so your suggestion should be very much stiff enough. Thanks for the heads up about heat shrink. I tore down some batteries...

Good to know flippy. What about the 30q, is there data on this one?

    Newbie battery options

Actually the GA is tested with 6A discharges as oppose to the PF, 4A discharges. So the GA loosing capacity quicker is to be expected... So I will shut up now and wait for a more experience user to answer this... I am now very interested to know the actual answer!

    Newbie battery options

Nope, I was wrong. Apparently it's because the PF hold capacity better given a number of charge/discharge cycles. See last graph on both spec sheet. PF: http://nkon.nl/sk/k/ncr18650pf.pdf

    Newbie battery options

Usually it's because of the temps achieved at a given current. More heat = aging cell. But it's not obvious with those 2 because they're both rated at 10A max discharge. I couldn't find a temp graph for the PF but here is a graph for the GA...

Designing a flat, structurally sound battery pack

Hi, I'm currently putting together a 14s4p battery pack with the following requirements: * Pack split in 2x 7s4p serially connected for having 2 equal weights, required for transportation (don't ask...) also, no BMS * the 7s4p's need to be flat, arranging them as 2x14 matrix is my preferred...

    Spot welding overlapping nickel strips

Yes this design is great, I need to get a CNC laser cutter.

    Spot welding overlapping nickel strips

Oh my those bus plates are sexy... If only someone would manufacture them as 2p rolls like they do with slit nickel. What I would love even more is manufactured 2p rolls with round nickel tab linked to larger copper sheet with wire fuses (tesla like), so I can spot weld them, no wire bonding...

    Spot welding overlapping nickel strips

Thanks guys, makes a lot of sense. Now my conscience is clear AND I understand what is going on. I knew from here that welding copper is much harder but I thought it would be the case only as a top layer. But now you got me interested spinningmagnets, what is the purpose of the nickel between...

    Spot welding overlapping nickel strips

Hi, I have DIY'd a spot welder (thanks to malectrics) that's working like a charm: I am spot welding 18650s with .15 pure nickel with a 3ms pulse and consistent holes in the strip when teared down. So everything is great except that when I try to spot weld the same nickel strips on top of each...
