    Cyclone 3000 version 2.0

I was expecting this motor package from Luna to be a nightmare but 1000km later that has not been my experience. I added additional support to the motor which you can look up in my previous thread. Motor flexing has not been a problem. The tensioner needs periodic adjustment /tweaking to...

    Cyclone 3000 version 2.0

I really enjoyed my first mid drive ebike but because I mainly used it off road the suspension was not up to the job. I bought a Devinci Ollie downhill, not sure of the year, and transfered my components over. It has 210mm rear travel and 185mm front travel. Now I've got the suspension I...

Questions about 72v lithium battery performance

I am impressed. I did 25 miles a may be able to get 35 miles total out of a charge which is more than I was expecting. I will keep an eye on voltage under load. I am sure that a higher quality battery will have less sag. By the time I called it quits my sag was about 6 volts. But most...

Questions about 72v lithium battery performance

The pack can handle 50 amps short duration 30 amp continuous according to seller. My setup draws 40 amps max.

Questions about 72v lithium battery performance

Thanks to all for the information guys.I am happy with the battery considering the low price. It is made from 18650 cells. I guess I need to go for a longer ride next time to see how much juice was left. My plan is to stop riding when my resting voltage drops to 69v and I wont let the amps...

Questions about 72v lithium battery performance

I have a new 72v 20amph lithium ion battery which I am using with my cyclone 3000. With a fresh battery I am drawing 40 amps and 3000watts. According to my cycle analyst I travelled 25 miles. My resting voltage after 25 miles was 71.7 volts and I used 9 amph. Under full throttle my voltage...

Bought a used emmo proton testing batteries..

I weighed the batteries on my proton. It has a 72v 30amph battery. Each 12v battery weighs 23 lbs, thats 138 lbs in total and more than half the weight of the bike. My 72v 20amph lithium battery weighs 18 lbs. If I install this battery I will shed 120 lbs and probably have higher voltage...

72V 3000W Cyclone Electric and Gas Generator Build (SBP kit) - Three Phase Dev

This is a complicated build and you said your reason was because you like the torque of electric instead of going straight gas. Why not do a gas and electric hybrid drive with no generator? Much simpler and more practical. Of course you are probably doing it for the hell of it instead of for...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

I have not looked for a 72v hub motor but I am surprised that they are so rare. If I were using an ebike for commuting on the road I would definitely be using a hub drive. They are basically maintenance free and super reliable. But it's true that it's nice to be able to pedal without power with...

Bought a used emmo proton testing batteries..

According to the meter just over 45 amps. One day I will compare it to a clamp on meter to see accuracy. So I guess that explains why my "500 watt" scooter does over 60kmh. The only modification is the governor bypass and this does not appear to affect max amps.

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

Makes sense thanks. I am going start over with a new chain. I am going to avoid the smallest gears as I don't really need them and they will really load and stretch the chain. I have come to the conclusion that if you are only going to have one electric bike then a hub motor is the way to go...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

I noticed that when I lengthened my chain my tallest gear would slip at high speed. Curious as to why my cassette will get damaged if I lengthened my chain? I though it was skipping because it was now too loose.

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

My drive chain has been fine. My rear cassette chain broke. Luckily I was close to home. It was my fault I think. I lengthened it by a few links and I think it separated where I joined the extra links. Once you pop out a pin then press it back in, that pin will become a weak spot. I think...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

Sure Mr. Lithium Balls, I use my balls for more important things. I will treat any large lithium battery as s potential bomb, whether I made it or it is made in Germany. Too many buildings have burned down to be taking chances

What do you think of my hi-tech fire containment system, I designed it myself  I have six inches of sand under the tin foil. In the summer its staying outside with the battery. I wont charge the battery unless I am home and I figure this contraption may give me a chance should this...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

Got a cycle analyst now have to wait for good weather to really test the battery. I'm drawing 40 amps at full throttle and voltage about 80v underload with a fresh battery so thats about 3000w. Totally gutless compared to my dual sport motorcycle but I can't ride that where I will be riding...

Bought a used emmo proton testing batteries..

Installed an amp meter. Only about $30 on Amazon. Comes with an 100 amp shunt and does voltage up to about 90v I think. Only issues are it's not entirely waterproof and there is no mounting hardware. I am using velcro to mount and can remove it if necessary so it works great for me. Does...

    Questions about 72v lithium battery

Yes it's a 20s lithium ion from China so I don't know much about the cells. When the weather permits I will get some accurate measurements on total watt output. I was concerned that if it did reach 84v then it meant for sure bad cells but that's not necessarily the case. Thanks

    Questions about 72v lithium battery

I bought a 72v 20amph battery, 30 amp continuous 50amp max BMS. When I got it the voltage was 68v. I cycled it a few times and the maximum voltage it reaches before the charger shuts of is 83v. After about a day it drops to about 82.5v. Is this normal? Should it charge to 84v? I'm wondering if...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

No I don't have a bluetooth plug. I have a separate volt gauge. I would think a new battery should charge to 84v. As far as performance, it's hard to judge how far I went and how hard I pushed it and until good weather I wont know. Voltage sag is something I am not sure about as it seemed too...

    Cyclone 3000w winter project

I am trying to get a Batt man gauge but I can not find a place to order it from here in Canada. Luna is out and the Batt man site does respond to emails. The cycle analyst seems to complex but I may have no choice. There is one on Amazon for about $30. Here is a pic. Does up to 90v and you can...
