The Consequence Of Not Using High Temperature Wires

BTW one thing I've noticed, those look like speaker wires. Are the 12AWG wires speaker wires? A lot of the "speaker wires" you buy off eBay are actually a few gauges lower than advertised, in fact I'd say a majority of them are! If that's a comparison of 8awg and 12awg, and assuming the 8awg is...

    Terminating the 15Ah and 20Ah Cell-Man cells

Noalox is great but I think it's non conductive? It's to prevent oxidation. If you want conductive, you need something like this: http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/8463.html I think Noalox is actually the right product to use here, though. - Tony

US pilots union wants ban on lithium batteries

That's interesting, didn't know pressure can increase capacity, do you know if this is a huge increase or a small percentage increase? I would imagine it's small enough that decreasing pressure won't cause an "overcharge". Shipping batteries in a discharged state might be a safer way to go...

US pilots union wants ban on lithium batteries

http://news.ino.com/headlines/?newsid=68965658756680 The above article is interesting, especially this part: "A burned package containing a lithium-ion "bicycle-power device" was discovered in the cargo of a UPS flight from Ontario, Calif., to Honolulu on June 18, the union said." Would be...

    "wearable" battery pack

Thought people might be interested in this! Can survive military use, so it should be pretty durable, but kind of scary "wearing" a lipo pack. http://www.abslpower.com/pdfs/430955%20Li-ion%20Pack.pdf Complete BMS, passes all sorts of tests and regulations. Looks like it could be more expensive...

    Testing HWC 18650 form-factor LiFePO4 (3.2v/1.4ah) Cells

Hi Ahambone, Glad no one was hurt! By the way these cells will not pop when shorted, they aren't capable of enough current. It was definitely the heat of the solder that caused this. Without solder, some ways the cells can pop the way yours did is due to overcharging (to 5V, etc). I've never...

New potential ebike battery product development

Yes 1200A isn't suitable for MOSFET use! We're using a custom relay, it's actually pretty expensive. But this wouldn't be needed for the ebike pack fortunately! - Tony

New potential ebike battery product development

Tony from Voltphreaks here. We've sold many of our single cell 2 amp lifepo4 chargers here. Our company primarily makes 12V car starter batteries for the high end racing market, to save weight. This market obviously has different requirements than the ebike market. I'm currently using two of...
