    2009 IZIP Express

Fom what i understand its a fixed planetary gear system the only variable being the manual pedal gearing. if i'm wrong please explain how this evo planetary hub changes gears? Its not hard to build a hybrid drive system where the motor drives a 3 speed variable planetary hub or other variable...

    A letter to Currie Tech

yeah its a good price on a cheap bike but not what most are looking forward to riding. Careful -that description on amazon.com is for the aluminum design - your getting heavy steel , sneaky and confusing marketing ploy. i'm looking foward to aluminum chromoly carbon kevlar hybrid designs.

    A letter to Currie Tech

My new letter to currie dear currie sales people and tech people, i am waiting for a bike design where the motor drives a continuous variable gear or runs a geared hub like a shimano 8 geared hub but the drive gearing would need to be accessed from both sides -unless the bionic charger...

Kid goes to the candy store: a visit to Thunderstruck Motors

a really good bicycle frame with high quality fancy components should not cost more than 400 - 500 dollars. beyond that price range your into rapidly diminishing performance returns and your paying for cachet and novelty and rare metals but funcionality will not sbstantially increase on a 2000...

Kid goes to the candy store: a visit to Thunderstruck Motors

those are way too expensive. i see lots of basic bikes for over $1000 to $5000 dollars but i only spent $3000 on my subaru car - i need a cheapo bike $80- $200 size L

here's an interesting ev business site

yeah, sadly most ev's are overpriced but even now i see electric powered motorscooters selling at below gas powered prices. most of the expensive ones are start-ups that had to invest alot more initially. the major manufacturers in the usa are feeling the heat from foriegn designs now but most...

    e-bike categories

i think it might be useful to create seperate categories for hub bikes and motor mounted bikes for e-bike design and testing and photo creations because its hard to sort through the different types of bikes when they're all lumped together. i look through the topics and it would make it easier...

    Battery voltage switching

are you sure? wouldn't the voltage be the same? would there be any advantage to switching add-on batteries from serries to parallel? does a higher voltage allow you to back off on the throttle and get the same performance with less current? and longer run time?

    Battery voltage switching

does anyone currently use variable voltage switching? i would like to use a switch to change my battery configuration while traveling to take advantage of higher voltage for increased speed and power for hills; then switch down to a lower voltage for distance.

how weight affects speed and distance

well, when i was playing with the simulator wind speed seemed to have an exagerated effect on the lighter bike. the mass of the bike would come into play say in this instance: two bikes same aerodynamics traveling on level surface at same speed coast against head wind exerting same force against...

how weight affects speed and distance

thanks! i get speed differentials of roughly 1 - 2 mph and power consumption of up to 100 watts more for 20% grade at 50lbs more weight and 5mph -not too much difference; but it increases to 300 watts difference at 15mph- so if you really want to rip up a hill that extra 50lbs makes over 300...

how weight affects speed and distance

does anyone know how weight affects speed and distance for any given motor voltage set up for instance if the total weight varies by 50lb how would that affect the speed and distance over various grades? a flat grade might just affect acceleration but not top speed but with grades of 5, 10...

cg gameprogrammer wrote: Geared hubs already exist. They are noisy and the gears can wear down, eventually failing. A letter to Currie Tech

yes i know you get what you pay for still currie has been "improving" their drive design over the years but this is clearly a step backward - given the fact that uspd is no longer in production that crapy unupgradable drive is their next generation - i suppose they thought they'd put there money...
