New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

casainho, great work. Just finished this thread. Have not been active for a while and needed to finish my bafang build. Now thanks to this thread, I will be throwing that out for a real torque sensor setup. The open source and FOC really kicks it in for me. What display do you recommend I order...

    HobbyKing 1-6S 500W 30V 20A Balance Charger on sale! $50 (Save $23)

I've been impressed with the battgo product. I have the round 600w version and the 8S balancer. Both are used to keep my 6s lithium bank in my Van topped off or balanced. Accuracy is good.

Dogman Dans E bike burns his house.

Bummer about the fire Dan, been away from ES for a while. Been focused on my van build the past 3 years. Glad things have worked out for you. I will take more precautions with the Tesla pack I'm using in the van. Fell into the same false sense of safety. 220ah would make a bad fire if gone...

    My solution to Li-po Fires

Not posted unfortunately, haven't spent much time on the web unless it's for work. Too many projects to get done.

methods - I want to make something happen...

Patrick, I haven't been on the forum much but decided to pop in, been busy with my van conversion. Sorry to here about your divorce, hope you get it worked out. Good to see you still finding thrills in the wave. Wish Michigan had consistent waves, Kiteboarding and windsurfing is still a passion...

    My solution to Li-po Fires

Hey JD, wish it could be. Unfortunately it's just not practical to do. I'm converting a promaster cargo van into a full RV. This will allow me to travel with my toys (kiteboard, windsurfer, ebike, ect) and vacation. The only thing electrically cool is I'm pushing 500w of solar and going all...

    My solution to Li-po Fires

Huh?, don't think I implied it was a vacuum. You are reading too much into it. As for CF not burning, try taking a torch to it. Would be great if I could use ceramics, but impractical. I'm also not advocating that this works, since I have no test results to back it, just something I've...

    My solution to Li-po Fires

No unfortunately I have been too busy with projects. The only good news to report is this seems to help with the IR. I even vacuumed packed the one on my utility bike, but used cheap fiberglass matting and formex. Doubt I will get around to any burn test. Someone else will need to pick up where...

    Cargo Node utility bike

Interesting comments, I wouldn't need such a bike where I live. I only pointed it out for large city use. Folding bikes for subways and such. Ability to take on a passenger. Seems like a good approach, since it can be stored in the apartment away from theft. A small folder might be all that is...

    Cargo Node utility bike

If I needed a good all around utility bike for the city. This has got to be the one I would concider electrifying. Just throw in a rear hub. http://www.ternbicycles.com/bikes/471/cargo-node

Onda Longa electric long board build

I've been riding it around all summer, content just to push it around for the workout. Fall is here, so I will start on the conversion soon. If they go on sale, I might pick up another dedicated just for pushing around.

    My Motoped

Sorry, haven't been on the sphere for a while. Been busy working on building an RV. The motoped is completed, I have not ridden it much since I would need to transport it to trails that allow for gas, mostly up north. The RV and motoped will provide a lot of fun next summer though. Motor is...

New Alex 24 rim, seam line not welded. Defect?

Thanks, just wanted some confirmation before I waste time lacing it. Had not seen this style of connection before.

New Alex 24 rim, seam line not welded. Defect?

I just got a new Alex 24 DH rim. I can see through the seam line, is this the way they make them? Was told by the vendor it may have internal rods holding it together? It's had to tell. Anyone know if this is safe to use? There isn't even any side welds or spot welds seen. You can see the light...

Great video, good to see Grin pushing the forefront of ebike and eboard technology. I'm glad Justin has a thriving business and I wish him success in all his ventures.

Onda Longa electric long board build

Finished the motor mounts, just waiting for the ESC from Marcin to arrive. In the meantime I've been having a lot of fun pushing the board around land paddling. It's a great workout so even with the board motorized, I will still take off the belt just for the upper body workout. The push stick...

    My Motoped

Whoohoo! Finally got the motoped running. It started up on the second kick. Only had to adjust the idle screw to keep it running. Surprisingly trouble free, even the wiring was correct. Rode it around the block, first gear is way too low. Actually all the gears seem to be on the low side. Going...

    Lipo failure

Bummer, that's why I could never recommend them to anyone getting into Ebikes. Plenty of safer battery chemistries out there and services that will put a pack together for you.

EBike Toolbox - Bargains! (newest = throttles)

Tapping Into you packs would create an imbalance issue. You are better off getting a DC/DC converter or building a separate pack.

    18650 Ebay deals, reasonable?

You could still used a standard lithium charger. It won't charge all the way, but batteries will last longer if you follow the 80-20 rule of charge. Just work out how much current you need and have enough in parallel to keep the packs cool. I would assume 2C rating for most old gen laptop...

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Sounds like an angry swarm of bees, higher pitch and even louder than the cyclone. I wouldn't be able to get away with it in the trails around here.

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Wow, what a great thread you pointed out. It's what I was imagining but never knew it had its own classification. I like the hypercyclodal reduction design. Very easy to CNC, going to have to make one now. Never thought visforvoltage had something we don't cover!

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Unlike the video, what Dave has done was to create a cycloid center. This allows for a much bigger tooth engagement. This creates the offset needed for the gear reduction. This also creates gear noises that are in harmonic with the offset. I would try filling this with oil to see if it can...
