Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

I don't know. I hold promise for Antiscab attempt at a Lithium conversion (using 100 x GBS 20Ah cells). See: http://visforvoltage.org/forum/13389-modify-type-i-prius#comment-68791 Mik

    SkyRC Quattro B6AC charger

Thanks! I have connected the QUATTRO charger to a sealed 12V 110Ah lead-acid Marine/RV continuous use / deep discharge battery. This battery is for the moment being charged by a three-stage lead acid charger, capable of charging at up to 10A. 10A should be enough, because I do not intend to...

    SkyRC Quattro B6AC charger

Hi, I recently bought a SkyRC Quattro B6AC charger http://www.skyrc.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=124 It seems to work very well so far, the only annoyance is that the cooling fan is noisy and turns on and off, sometimes every few seconds, depending on load and temperature...

Generix Motor Controller for a Vectrix VX-1?

I should probably say: "I want hardware that is supplied with all needed electronic firmware and driver files" rather than "source code". What I want is a controller that will keep on running (and that remains repairable) if the original manufacturer is no longer able to (or interested in)...

Generix Motor Controller for a Vectrix VX-1?

Thanks, Amberwolf. The problem is that Vectrix do not share the required information (source code, diagrams etc) to integrate something new into the system, or to even repair the existing hardware or software. The stock system is also needlessly complex and error prone (such comments have been...

Generix Motor Controller for a Vectrix VX-1?

Could the Vectrix motor controller be replaced with a different motor controller? As far as I understand it, the stock MC communicates with the charger, the ICM and the display via the Canbus, and all this connectivity would be lost. The stock charger (at least the older one) is poorly...

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Used battery modules ("sticks") can be bought from a number of vendors, one example can be found here: http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/hybrid-battery-repair/19609-spare-sticks-australia-new-zealand.html#post191735

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Here is the "final" (HAHA!) version 15.3 of the Special Freddy NHW10 EQ charger. It has been working quite well for some time now but it still needs to be considered an experimental design. Don't just build one like it unless you know what you are doing! See these previous posts for more...

Prius Batteries - How to make them work

You bet they do! Check out this thread: https://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=12764&start=45#p280873 I don't recommend prolonged 100A testing any more, but they'll do it!

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Ask on the http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mk1_Prius/ group. I know of a person doing mobile NHW10 service somewhere on your island, I'll forward a link to this post so he can contact you if appropriate.

Try comparing it to the NHW10 translations. I guess it will be very similar.

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Attached is a vastly improved version of the English S2000 NHW10 Menu structure. Again, it is really a .mmap file, NOT a PDF file. I renamed it to S2000 scanner menus 2010-12-24 public.mmap.pdf to get it past the forum software. Download, then RENAME it by deleting just the last few letters...

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Welcome! That is perfectly normal. It can be a big problem when the battery is empty or severely defective, because the car is then totally unable to reverse. That should only happen if the HV battery needs additional charging, or if the ICE is still too cold, or if the air-conditioner is...

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

Hi everyone, I have made a more functional Mindmap which can be opened with the free viewer software downloadable from here: http://www.issusa.com/page5753554.aspx Once you have installed it, you will be able to open the attached Mindmap file and navigate it much more efficiently than the...

Prius NHW10 (MK1) Hybrids - How to test and resurrect them

The Techno S2000 scanner is the only scanner that can perform all necessary operations on a NHW10 Prius if the NHW10 data disk is inserted into the S2000. Quite a few S2000, some with the NHW10 data disk, have recently been bought by private NHW10 owners. It seems like Toyota Japan is selling...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

The simulated circuit continues to slowly mature.... nothing has been built as prototype yet. Below is the code for the latest version of the simulation. It is to be used in the applet at http://www.falstad.com/circuit/ The simulated measurements which I have performed to evaluate the various...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

Thanks Peter, but I think this would be too complicated for me. I want a simple NiMH BMS.... Of course, the latest simulation of the circuit does not lok all that simple any more, but it really is, compared to the Prius or Insight BMS. Paste the below code into the applet at...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

Yes! Thank you! That's how easy I like it.... Two of these would do - but they cause a fair bit of current draw. It would need to be combined with an automatic battery disconnect and inrush current limiter - but these are on my wish-list anyway! Or just a relay that turns it all on and off...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

For the 102s battery the options are 102/2=51, 102/3=34,102/6=17, 102/17=6 and 102/34=3. I think the 34 cell option is best, because it would allow installation of the IDeA without taking the batteries out of the VX-1! All that is needed is installation of two tab wires between cell 34/35 and...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

Thank you, Jeremy and Fechter! Your help is much appreciated. However, I am trying to avoid having to connect up multiple cells, or all cells in the battery. Those systems which were developed for Lithium batteries need to detect under-voltage of a cell at the cell level, because the Lithium...

A simple but effective NiMH BMS?

I have an idea for a BMS for NiMH batteries - but I don't know how to make the electronic measurement parts of it. What I need is the IDeA - the Imbalance Detection Apparatus - to do it automatically. Manually (with a DMM) I can do all it needs to do - I hope the IDeA is relatively easy to...

Prius Batteries - How to make them work

Set it to NiMH. Set current to 0.6A Set timer to 16hrs. I don't think the IMAX can do discharging but I might be wrong. If the modules do not hold voltage for more than a few days then I think they are stuffed. Good modules seem to hold voltage for many months.
