Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

Well I corresponded with EM3EV & they asked for video of the issue. They said they also think a controller issue is likely. Fortunately I'm still under warranty so they should be sending a replacement out soon. Fingers crossed but so far very satisfied with their customer service at least :thumb:

Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

I'm pretty certain it's not the gear sensor. I already tested that & it worked normally. Same with the speed sensor. Only the sensors & throttle attached to the main wiring harness would not work. The display would turn on but wouldn't activate walk assist when I held down the "+" button...

Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

I'm now 99% certain the issue is either in the motor or the controller unfortunately. I replaced the main cable bus but only the display will turn on whether I use the old one or the new one. I can't get the throttle to work (tested with two throttles) or the brake sensors to work. The gear...

Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

More pictures. It would appear the white wire jacket is damaged at this point & the error comes on specifically when I twist or apply pressure to this point.

Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

I had to undo a lot of wrap & check all of my cables but I did ultimately find what looks to be the source of the issue. This is the main wiring harness/cable bus I believe. The damage appears minimal & the error only appears when the cables directly around the exposed area are pinched. The...

Weird Motor/Brake Sensor Issue on BBSHD

I got my motor & battery kit from EM3EV & just sent a message to their customer support email, which I'm gonna copy over here to see if any of y'all have any ideas as well. I'm staying with family right now in a pretty rural area & have been out here a few weeks. I biked 600+ miles to get here...

Surly E•D•LHT - Touring eBike Build with BBSHD!

Hey, thanks so much for the compliment! Personally I don't find there to be any significant drag from the motor when pedaling without power. As of yet I have never run out of power, but on flat terrain while riding with a friend (who was on a regular bike) I totally forgot to turn the power on...

Surly E•D•LHT - Touring eBike Build with BBSHD!

Thank you! I was quite surprised initially as well as my actual range far exceeded my expectations based on the calculations I did using average eBike rider stats (or at least those I could find available, mostly through forums like this one and polls). I think I have a few things going for...

Thank you! Yes, I would say that my love for this bike has only grown. :) I've gone on a bunch more long trips since my last post (I'll attach/share some photos!) My battery and range have stayed pretty consistent since the last post. I will say that I did use more wh/mi on my most recent trip...

Oops I Forgot the Most Important Thing... Gosh I can't believe I forgot to mention the coolest thing about this build that I've realized since my post from ~700 miles ago. I'm getting WAY better range than I originally thought I would get from this battery & motor configuration. I originally...

Update After ~1500 Miles Alright, so I've had some odd experiences when it comes to the battery capacity reading (especially the "wh" reading) & the range estimations. For a little while it seemed to be getting pretty accurate as I messed around with the settings & went on more long rides...

Lots of useful information there, but I don't know that it really answers the question that you quoted unless I'm really missing something. I typically unplug my battery from my bike whenever I charge it. I also know not to leave it unattended for long periods and generally keep an eye on it...

Oh you're right, good catch - I see now where my fundamental misunderstanding/mistake was. Unfortunately the default values from the drop down you're talking about (I read the manual too) end up giving even more incorrect readings than the results that came from using the calibration tool under...

I just mean that the maximum voltage for the pack is declaratively 58.8V, I have a 5A charger I bought with the battery that has a Low 90%/High 100% charge switch & typically I use 90% (which is stated to charge to 57.2V, although TBH I have taken it off the charger & had the BMS Doctor app show...

I bought my battery from EM3EV here: https://em3ev.com/shop/50v-14s7p-rectangle-battery-pack/ I have the 23.8AH version with Samsung 35E High-Energy cells, which I believe are rated at 3.4Ah per cell (it doesn't actually say on that page, but the other High-Energy version listed with comparable...

    BFANG BBSHD Best Display

Stock photo of the EggRider display in the phone app. So yeah, it is a pretty tiny display if you're not using the phone app unfortunately. Personally I don't use the phone app except for changing programming settings or downloading ride data, updating firmware, that sort of thing. I kind of...

    BFANG BBSHD Best Display

The EggRider v2 is the best in my opinion. I love that it lets you reprogram your motor controller settings through an app on your phone, making that aspect of setting up your ride that much easier & simpler (& also available to you on-the-go). I love that it lets you run two settings profiles...

Update After ~350 Miles So after updating the EggRider v2 Display to the most recent firmware following the instructions in the manual/wiki & recalibrating the voltage/battery capacity reading through the EggRider application I've found that the estimates on the display are closer to accurate...

Oh sweet, haven't seen that many other women on here building bad ass bikes like this, that makes me happy. I had considered a UPP battery for awhile for the price point but kept hearing mixed reviews about their products. Kinda surprised a 28ah battery fits in a triangle that size...

Just rode through a downpour :bolt:  :bolt: and the bike handled great! :D Shocked at just how hot my brake rotors got by the end though lol. The EggRider v2 is supposed to be pretty water resistant but I kept it & the throttle covered with a plastic bag/rubberband just to be safe. I...

So not only did I ride in the rain for part of the day yesterday & today (& it worked just fine!), but today I also went on a mostly off-road 40 mile ride through the woods at about 20 MPH average with heavy cargo. Bike handled everything like a champ. I used the throttle a lot & still had ~50%...

Surly E•D•LHT - Touring eBike Build with BBSHD!

Hi! I bought all the main components in my kit (battery, motor, etc.) from EM3EV. In the case of the BBSHD the controller is inside of that little circle in front of the chainring/motor body. I ordered a 750W controller from EM3EV since it was an option. So it all came together. Sorry that's...
