Can anyone confirm this resembles the housing of the Xiongda? As in that case I'm doing it all wrong.

Does the sentence in bold mean that the lid is screwed inside the housing? As I would have thought expanding the lid would actually make it easier to open it. Does someone have a photo of the open motor so that I understand how the lid fits?

You gave me an idea; thanks.

I find the hardest part to hold the motor housing in place without leaving marks... I solved that by using all screw holes to fix it to wooden board Hard to make a tool that covers all three screw openings. I will try your heating suggestion.

Thanks knutselmaster, I might get in touch with you. @menvert: I have another Xiongda, but I have never managed to open it. I built a sort of clumsy custom tool for it, but still didn't manage. Any tips?

I seem to be a victim of this new policy of Xiongda. I have a faulty engine and Bonnie tells me she can't replace it. I have now $780 of components which I can throw away. Not much I can do with only a front engine, two batteries and the other xiongda accessories I bought. Never buy Chinese...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Thanks for thinking along. This topic is no longer very active so I guess I will have to go back to Xiongda and ask Bonnie for a solution. Wish I had a clearer understanding of the issue to report. (btw, I ordered it specifically for 48V / 15A and power in low gear cuts much earlier, somewhere...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Tested; seems to only happen in low gear. In high gear I can keep delivering power at @700W for a few mins while going up a hill until the resistance is too high to get up even while heavy pedaling. Then the power cuts as well, but that makes sense. In low gear the power cuts already at lower...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Well, after installing the PAS sensor no progress. Power was still cut at a certain resistance (hill / grass). Swapped the controller for another brand new one: same issue. Tested the battery; it's perfectly capable of producing the needed amperage. The power is cut not above a certain...

My plan is to certainly install the PAS sensor as it's an obligation as well as something I prefer. The gas handle would only be used for steep hills if I have to (re-)start halfway.

Found it :) Current P1 parameter setting is 104 (off factory) that's for a 700C, 48V, 15A KT controller, rear wheel motor. Should that be changed to 88? I see that P1 = motor gear reduction ratio×number of rotor magnet pieces. Would they have made a mistake in the factory by setting it to 104?

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Hi, thanks for thinking along. I never use only throttle, I'm so used to cycling that I can't :) No errors on display, the PAS sensors is not yet installed as I'm not sure how to do that correctly. I have the KT-LCD3 display and can't find any reference to P settings; maximum riding speed...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

If I use the throttle in a very subtle way and let it come up to speed while giving more gas in a gradual way I can get to full throttle. But I need to help the bike by pedalling as well and one higher gradient hills I can't manage this feat Happens regardless of P1 / P5 powerassist modes. If I...

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Hugely disappointing: after the first ever test run which looked great at the end something fundamentally failed. Every time I use the 'gas' handle it pushes forward for half a second and then stops and the power gets cut. Repeatable even when motor and controller were completely cooled down...

To a future reader with the same problem of the HAL switch not working for Low gearing: you used the wrong connector coming from the controller. In my case I mixed it up the wheel rotation sensor as that also has a three pin connector. Question: how should the wheel rotation sensor and the two...

Thanks, I have a multimeter so will check continuity tomorrow. I even have a second HAL switch to test.

Oh my, tensions run high here while I'm only interested in discussing the Xiongda motor itself. Can we move back to technical discussions? Maybe you guys can help me. I have just tested my first provisional Xiongda install. Everything seems to work fine except the low gear. If I put the HAL...

What's the name of the plug for the battery connector in this image? I need to solder a female version to my battery pack as that is outfitted with a Deans T plug atm

No Titanic here, but a hill > 22%. I tried with a 70 NM mid engine and 7 gears, couldn't reach the top. So I estimate I will need two Xiongda's to get there. Probably will wire the front one through the gas handle and with a permanent Low gear setting to be sure.

Hi guys, I was wondering if it was possible to use two of these motors on one bike to get a 2wd monster hill climber. I couldn't find it in the 60+ pages of this topic.
