New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

This has nothing to do with the ESP32 and quite sure the VLCD5 is faulty (memory chips always have limited number of writing times and yours obviously has gone earlier). For other displays please see experiences reported in earlier posts.

That does not really help. According to the FT232 datasheet only 50mA can be drawn - which is not enough for a save ESP32 supply.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

Using a FT232RL? The problem is that it doesn't provide enough current (so the voltage is dropping down).

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

No. There are many differences (in my opinion making it better). No. And I don't see any advantage of that.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

No, you need the display. First of all for turning the system on. You could use a switch for that. But you had to change the software too. (I made it completely different, use ESP32 boards with display.)

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

Yes, you can leave it connected to the throttle input (can be selected within the android app).

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

It's the motor power and you will not get a reasonable human power reading, there were only some approaches in other open source versions (standard non ESP32) but for this purpose the sensor in the TSDZ2 is not really good for.

Just search in this thread for SW102 and you will find a couple of answers: https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/search/145960/?q=SW102&t=post&c[thread]=103318&o=relevance

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

No - as I already mentioned earlier. The firmware of this project is especially prepared for the update. This is not included (and intended) by the emmebrusa firmware. And all software (including ESP32 and smartphone) have to be reasonable up to date for fitting together for doing the update.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

What firmware is on your TSDZ2? Did you already flash the ESP version? And did you enable the bootloader? You can only update the firmware with your phone. You have to take this steps first: TSDZ Controller Flash

This adapter quite likely does not supply enough power/current - at least that's my experience.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

It crashes on my Samsung S10+ when trying to make the BT connection. Version 2.1.12 works for me with Android 12.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

I integrated the latest changes in my version and gave it a trial today (with activated torque smoothing). I didn't notice significant differences - at least it is running smooth with no problems so far (so as intended).

:bigthumb: Thank you for anticipating that I would ask about that

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

@mspider65 I was just about to implement some changes in my adapted ESP32 LCD version concerning torque (my earlier recorded Torque/'Newton table to get reasonable human power values and connected to that I was wondering if it would make sense to linearize the torque values like it was done for...

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

I'm using even only one Schmitt-Trigger circuit powered by 5V (which excepts 3.3V Input high level) for both directions. Towards the ESP32 I simply use a resistor voltage divider. Theoretically no circuit is needed at all. Towards the ESP32 just a resistor voltage divider should be enough (I...

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

I may answer: yes because it's not essential. There is a simple reason: two different directions. I 'm not sure if the auto direction sensing will work correctly or as needed. This circuit is intended for different use.

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

It happened while plugging in the VLCD5 - with battery not being disconnected. Also the turning on transistor in the VLCD5 burned. I guess it happened because the plug might have had contact with battery plus and the switching line before ground had contact and a too high current flow through...

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

Would be interesting which DC/DC controller chip you are using now. The LM5166 seems to be rather sensitive anyway (burned one of my PCBs completely...).

:?: The raise must not be more than 20 degrees (at test conditions from 25°C to max. 45°C) - as far as I understood. :?: Still valid is: P = U * I So there is theoretically still the same copper loss (i.e. raise of temperature).

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

That does not really make sense. Only different Max Speed and Max Power values are send to the motor. For verifying you could just set at Bike Configuration / System at Street Mode the same values - or at least not set Max Power Limit there. In my opinion 350W there is okay anyway because it's...

New TSDZ2 Open Source firmware with Bluetooth interface

Thanks for the new version. I thought I could relax because you don't plan to do updates during the next months but just use your bike? At least you still left me bits of case 1 ui8_rx_buffer[6] for initialising OTA updates using WWDG_SWReset()
