I thought that the rear sprockets will also be "pulling" the chain from beneath (the derailer) which will be enough to tension the chain from the front and that would somehow "work itself out". I won't be pedaling, the motor won't be engaged, but the drivetrain will still be turning because the bike is moving.... This would generate current in the motor and recharge my battery.
