3 Speed Throttle issue

3rd Speed is slower than the 1st and the 2nd speed seems to make no difference at all. I know first speed is working because I can customize first gear on the bluetooth app for my controller. The app does not offer adjustments for the other 2 speeds only the first. Other people who have overvolted the motor get 47 mph (50mph max) but Im only getting 40 mph because on the app you can only adjust 1st up to 80 % of 3rd. There is an extension cable (not sure why or if its normal) that is female on both ends, this cable only has two wires connecting low speed and high speed cables together while the third wire on this extension cable Im assuming is going to ground. Any clues? Im using a yuyangking controller and the throttle I have is similar to the one below.

With most of those type controllers, there are 3 wires for the 3 speed switch. One wire is ground and the switch connects one or the other remaining wires to ground. If no wires are connected, it will be speed 2. You don't connect the speed 1 wire to the speed 3 wire.
