Weird Sound On A Brand New BBSHD. Is it broken?

My bike was in the process of installing my BBSHD at the repair shop and the guy who works there told me the motor is making a weird sound.

Is it something wrong with it? Have you guys heard this weird sound on your motors?

I have not ride the bike yet. Is it ok to ride the bike like this. Will it get "loose" and maybe stop making the noise if i ride the bike for a few hours?

Also I can feel some resistance when doing this (pedaling without the motor on).

Hard to tell, might be a defective reduction gear or frizzy windings that rub on the rotor.

Does it make that sound when you backpedal?

No, it doesn't. When I backpedal it makes that usual "cricket" sound.

However when I move the bike backward slowly (without pedaling) it makes a weird noise and it has some "intermittent resistance" (it doesn't move smoothly, if you watch the pedal).

I've tried to show it in this video https://streamable.com/z43ug6

If you have good hands, open it up and take a look.
Whatever that thing is, you sure won't be able to fix it from the outside.

Good luck

Is it normal for the pedaling like a normal bike (with the motor off) to become harder after instaling a BBSHD?

There is some quite big resistance with this motor when I try to do that. And it is not only the extra weight. It is from the motor itself.

Is this normal?

I would check your installation as there should be no added resistance to pedaling with power off to the motor. With battery power physically disconnected from motor, remove chain from chain wheel. Rotate cranks by hand as if pedaling. Should rotate freely. Connect power and turn on display. With PAS set to 0, rotate cranks. Should rotate freely. Did you get any error codes on display?
One other simple thing to check...almost slipped my mind but it happened to me. Mid drives, especially BBSHD, have the capacity to yank on your rear wheel, causing the wheel to slip in the dropouts and be misaligned. Your rim could be rubbing up against a brake pad and you wouldn’t even realize it with power on the BBSHD. Check rear wheel alignment and really tighten down the skewer. That BBSHD really puts out the torque!
