I'm having trouble programming the GRIN Baserunner Z9 and could use some guidance. Here's the issue:

I'm using the Phase Runner suite, but it's extremely glitchy. It times out frequently, and even when I hit the save button, it doesn't always save the parameters, forcing me to start over. The user manual is very surface-level and doesn't provide specifics on the different values within the Phase Runner suite or how to properly dial in a motor. It doesn't explain how the different values affect motor performance or give any reference on the increments (like KV inputs) for changes.

My main problems are:
1. At takeoff, the bike cogs and lurches when giving it throttle. It isn't a smooth takeoff, and adjustments impact the torque.
2. The controller cuts off at around 1,200 watts, dropping down to zero or 500-600 watts.
3. Programming the e-rider torque sensor results in lurching and pulsating, which isn't due to signal noise as we've addressed the grounding.

There is very little information available on how to program the different values within the Phase Runner suite to optimize the equipment. Unfortunately, Grin support has been unhelpful and often dismissive.

Is there any detailed guide or resource that explains specifically what each variable in the Phase Runner suite impacts on motor performance? Any help or direction to more comprehensive documentation would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve found this page to be helpful in further explaining how things work. If you scroll to the bottom of that page, you’ll find other interesting articles. PLL Regulation Control Loop is another article to read.

I was getting a similar reaction then I lowered the rad value of the current regulator bandwidth. I was adjusting with in the 2000-8000 range. When a range of only 200-300 gave me a smoother throttle reaction upon take off.

Also, do you have another usb port you can use? Maybe other usb ports will have a better connection? I like to wipe male plugs with my tshirt to be sure I don’t have any dirt or oil on them. Could be a dirty connection as well.

From what I’ve been reading, setting up the BaseRunner with a throttle is the first order of business. Once that has been successfully established, you can then set up the torque sensor.
