is it true that when importing cells from usa to CANADA we have to do a 2.5x multiplication of the price?

im CANADA , QUebec city. there are not many cell seller deals in canada . i read this reddit post saying from what i can understand that any cell or battery you import from usa to canada is going to end up costing more than twice the prices on the us website. like ordering something from battery hookup or https://www.batteryclearinghouse.com/ that is us price 100 usd , it will endup costing canadian buy like 250 canadian dollar.

is this the way it is ? is this real?

how do you guys from canada deal with this?

One way to see what it might cost is to check with the specific seller you want to buy from to see what they have seen, shipping, customs, taxes, exchange rate, etc. I'm sure they deal with this issue a lot.
