TSDZ2 dies, restarts with battery off/on, then repeats

The TSDZ2 motors on a couple of our recumbents are connected to the battery via 2 sets of Anderson connectors. There is the wire from the motor, then a 36" extension, then the wire from the cradle.

You can be riding casually and everything shuts down. Turn the battery off and on and it comes to life. Ride a few blocks and the same thing happens. Check the connectors and they are tight. How should we go about debugging this issue? Could it be in the battery BMS? Does seem to be battery related because it only happens with a couple of batteries and it repeats on different bikes.

I have more or less the same problem on a city bike with TSDZ2 motor and VLCD5. Stock software. Battery 36V 12.5 Ah Dolphin Bicycle Lithium 25A.
It seams to quit if you put suddenly a heavy load on the pedals and support stops but display keeps working.

Restarting fixes the issue. I have no idea why it happens. Maybe triggering an overload, or browning out the power supply? No Error message is reported.
I have checked and replaced the fuse in the frame battery housing to no avail.
