I think the CarvOn guy (Lever) was saying that the VESC and the hub motors are not so great pairing. Could just be settings or might make sense to use different ESC for Hub builds.

How high is the deck from the ground?

fascinating about the front steering but is it safe to drive? what happens if it hits a bump and causes the front wheel to shake from side to side? Does the front wheel return to center?

That looks way off. I think it's the little bit of free play that I have noticed and then the fastener is pushing it out. If one of the pins was landing on top of the keyway it might then be correctly aligned.

yeah now running DIY's new steel 16t pulleys I think with the Enertion pulley's go with the thinner mounts and or longer shaft to get the outer clip on. I think the flange on 14t Enertion pullley looks off very slightly but the gears look aligned.

Yeah my Enertion pulleys look slightly off also but seems to ride fine. Make sure to have a well fitted keyway. It might be better for narrower motor mounts so the outside circlip can be attached. Check out this way to tension the belt using a free guitar string tuner app...

it's a bummer hub wheels will not climb well. What do people think about the prospect of planetary gears to increase torque in the hubwheel? They would help climbing but also increase drag during coasting? Maybe planetary gear maintenance would be preferred over belt maintenance? Can't beat...

265 sounds about right. There is some variation possible because the motor mounts allow adjustment. There is no real way to use a calculator to get length unless motor mounts lengths are known.
