    1000W hub motor options

Update: So I added some grease to the Bafang. Whoever assembled the motor managed to get grease everywhere except for the gear teeth! The grease quietened it a bit. Also I've ordered a MXUS DD motor, so I'll switch to that in future. Thanks for all the advice.

    1000W hub motor options

Yes, I have a Grin sinewave controller to swap in, hopefully that will also help. Sorry, not a chance I am using ATF!! I've done that before, and the mess it made was diabolical.

    1000W hub motor options

Thanks for the replies. Dan, I'm glad you mentioned the coasting limitation of a DD motor, I'd forgotten about that. Regarding the number of turns, could you please check my calc for the RPM per volt of the Code 10 Bafang is correct? Code 10 = 300 rpm (link) @ 36 volts ............. = 8.3 rpm...

    1000W hub motor options

Hi. Could I please get some advice about upgrading my hub motor? Surprisingly, it's not because I am chasing more power! My current Bafang BPM has enough power but it's pretty whiney, so I'm hoping for something quieter. Any suggestions please? Perhaps an eZee 250/350? Or a GrinHub? A key...

    Australian supplier for hub motors

Hi, I'm after a replacement geared hub motor, preferably a 36v500W code 10 Bafang so that it's a plug-n-play swap. Any recommend suppliers in Australia please? Does anyone have experience with Ballarat Electric Bikes? Thanks.

    motor cutting out over bumps

Thanks. I wish I had a proper workshop! :? Instead, I had to rig up something dodgy in my living room, taking care not to scorch the carpet when dropping the spinning wheel onto the floor  Anyway, despite sounding and feeling like a mechanical problem, I think you guys were correct...

    motor cutting out over bumps

Hi, My Bafang hub motor has started cutting out for an instant over even the smallest bumps (such as the joint between concrete pavers). It then cuts back in immediately, sending a jolt through the bike. Has anyone else had this problem? Or can suggest a likely cause? Thanks.

EM3ev MAC 50 volt kit with battery

+1 My experience isn't with these guys, but anyway I had a bit of a saga keeping the wheel true. Turned out it was due to weak spokes that were laced incorrectly. If I'd got the LBS to fix these problems while I was building the bike, it would have saved a lot of hassle.

Just another awesome commuter e-bike: rear hub BPM, LiPo

Time for a quick "20 month review", I reckon. So... most importantly, the desire to ride is showing no signs of wear. Onto more mechanical matters, the axle in the hub motor snapped in half a couple of months ago. The Bafang wasn't really to blame, there are some unavoidable savage...

Ahhh very interesting. I'll try this out next time the wheel goes wobbly. When wiring up the new motor last night, I got foiled by the old "swap the yellow and green wires from the motor to the controller" trick  And it was after I had the wires all nicely cut to length

Thanks for the info. Are you saying that 2mm spokes are better than 3mm? How does that work??
