Math isn't quite right here since you spend more time going up hill. for a 15 km hill, you would spend an hour going up it, and .43 hours doing down it, with an average speed of 30km/1.43 hours = 20 kph. When I was using a direct drive motor, my speed up hill was faster, down hill was slower...

I won a kit a while back. They have had good customer service.

Seems to have solved the problem. Was able to make it up the hill near my house where it normally cuts off. :D

I opened up the battery today. One of the battery tabs had come unwelded. I soldered it back on and am charging the battery now. I am not sure if that will solve the overall problem, but it is a step.

I will try opening it up next. I have taken the end off of it to check the wiring, but haven't gotten down to the cell level.

I have the amped bikes tube battery. Rode today with a DMM with leads taped to the controller voltage input (redneck CA :) I have a hill near my house, so I was able to ride 1 handed to get there and test. I am getting considerable sag. Than the voltage goes to zero when the controller cuts...

That was my original guess. I added an 11V lipo in series and it was still cutting out. Tomorrow I will try to ride with a voltmeter and see.

Good excuse to buy a Cycle Analyst :)

I have an AmpedBikes tube battery. It is a couple of years old (beyond warranty) running on an E-Bike Kit geared kit. Apparently, it is cutting out when going uphill. The bike looses power. The confusing thing is that if I unplug the battery, and then plug it back in again, the bike works...

I thing you can get a pedalac sensor which senses if you are pedaling (not a torque sensor) so you can get assist level based on pedaling speed. It does avoid having to hold the thumb throttle for long distances. My thumb can get tired for 10 miles.

Higher speeds provide the capability for more damage. E-bikes are heavier as well, so an SLA E-bike going 30 will do more damage than a kid on a road bike doing 30. In California you can go up to 30, but above 20 they want you to get a 1 time license (I assume for giving tickets).
