Anyone bought E-Bike Kit from ebikekit.com?

I noticed on their website they now say that their geared motor is limited to 200lbs total. "Important: 350w geared hub motors are not intended for or warranted for use at more than 36 volts or total loads greater than 200lbs (rider weight and bike/gear combined). " They also no longer say...

    Electrifying my tandem bike

Math isn't quite right here since you spend more time going up hill. for a 15 km hill, you would spend an hour going up it, and .43 hours doing down it, with an average speed of 30km/1.43 hours = 20 kph. When I was using a direct drive motor, my speed up hill was faster, down hill was slower...

Seems to have solved the problem. Was able to make it up the hill near my house where it normally cuts off. :D

    Tube Battery Cutting Off

I opened up the battery today. One of the battery tabs had come unwelded. I soldered it back on and am charging the battery now. I am not sure if that will solve the overall problem, but it is a step.

I will try opening it up next. I have taken the end off of it to check the wiring, but haven't gotten down to the cell level.

    Tube Battery Cutting Off

I have the amped bikes tube battery. Rode today with a DMM with leads taped to the controller voltage input (redneck CA :) I have a hill near my house, so I was able to ride 1 handed to get there and test. I am getting considerable sag. Than the voltage goes to zero when the controller cuts...

    Tube Battery Cutting Off

That was my original guess. I added an 11V lipo in series and it was still cutting out. Tomorrow I will try to ride with a voltmeter and see.

    Tube Battery Cutting Off

I have an AmpedBikes tube battery. It is a couple of years old (beyond warranty) running on an E-Bike Kit geared kit. Apparently, it is cutting out when going uphill. The bike looses power. The confusing thing is that if I unplug the battery, and then plug it back in again, the bike works...

"True assist": is anyone else doing this?

I thing you can get a pedalac sensor which senses if you are pedaling (not a torque sensor) so you can get assist level based on pedaling speed. It does avoid having to hold the thumb throttle for long distances. My thumb can get tired for 10 miles.

    E-bike speed limits wtf?

Higher speeds provide the capability for more damage. E-bikes are heavier as well, so an SLA E-bike going 30 will do more damage than a kid on a road bike doing 30. In California you can go up to 30, but above 20 they want you to get a 1 time license (I assume for giving tickets).

    brake lights

Can anyone recommend how to switch on brake lights when the brakes are applied? My brakes have switches in them which disengages the controller when the brakes are applied. Do people use a relay in line with this, or a FET? I haven't figured out the wiring (normally open or closed switches)...

Can you use a geared hub motor as a mid-drive?

Can you use a geared hub motor as a mid-drive motor if you run it in reverse (reversed the phase wires) to get it not to freewheel? My guess you would have to reverse the sensors as well to get it to run in reverse as well.

Will 56 volts fry my controller?

I have an E-bike kit, which is advertised to 48 V. I currently run on 36V, and was shipped 18V batteries instead of the 14.4V batteries I ordered, which I am planning on running in series with the 36V. Does anyone have experience with this. I also have their geared hub motor. I don't want to...

    What governs hub motor speed

The controllers govern max current which is torque at lower RPM. Voltage and motor windings determine speed. The motor spinning acts like a generator (the voltage is the back EMF), so the faster the motor goes, the more voltage the motor generates (linearly related). When the difference...
