Bullitt (bucket cargo) with BBSHD - Should I go IGH?

What neptronix said. I've run a Nexus 3 speed & BBS for years in a cargo set-up with zero problems. Great hubs!

    PING battery rehab...?

Thanks fechter. What might it mean if - when I disconnect the charger & wait 30 mins - the balance lights start turning off or flickering haphazardly? I'm afraid I can't recall what the LEDs are supposed to do (or indicate) once the battery is charged & disconnected from the charger...

    PING battery rehab...?

Thanks for the reply fechter - encouraging! I've left both batteries on overnight & indeed, the remaining LEDs on the larger one are now lighting up. I'll leave them on for another 25hrs & then will disconnect & check voltages. On a related note, can you (or anyone else) tell me - are the...

    PING battery rehab...?

Hi Folks, Haven't visited or posted for a few years after a long lay-off from e-bike matters due to illness. All good (or better) now fortunately. As a present to myself I'm building a new e-cargo bike & want to try to reuse some of the gear I've had stored in the shed for the last couple of...

Urban Commuter Big Dummy M-Drive Project.

Hi Amberwolf, Don't think I ever replied to your email from 2020 - my apologies! The M-Drive turned out fine if a tiny bit noisy - mainly chain noise. However it's currently sitting in a box waiting for a new bike - I sold my Big Dummy (I needed a smaller bike) but perhaps more significantly, I...

    Connecting older Infineon too CA3?

Hi Folks, I have an older 48V+ Infineon controller that I have used in the past with a CA2-DPS and a complicated loom for the brakes, throttle, CA etc. I'm considering a new build and have been wondering if I could possibly update all of the cabling to use a single cable to the bars and a CA3...

    EM3EV Hard Case Battery Issue

As 999zip999 has alluded to, a triangular frame bag (commonly available) with strategically placed high-density foam padding inside to support and hold the battery may well be your most effective and practicable solution on that rather small bike.

    EM3EV Hard Case Battery Issue

Hi 99, I have the same EM3ev battery.I wasn't aware that they provided a downtube mount for this matter - mine is mounted on a simple padded inclined cradle sitting behind my seat post and under the rear rack on my Big Dummy. The battery gets quite a lot of road shock despite the padding (which...

Urban Commuter Big Dummy M-Drive Project.

Apologies - I've only just noted your query. To the extent that I was able to use it, the Urban Commuter M-Drive ended up working very well and accomplished (I think) everything it set out to do. It was powerful, efficient and allowed easy pedalling when the drive was not in use. However I have...

Thanks Adam, what's the problem with using washers? Sam

Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

I've just purchased a 310 from Grin unlaced. I plan to build it into a Sun Rhynolite 26" rim I have, 2 cross with some 14G plain gauge spokes I am able to source very cheaply from SJS Cycles (I have a frame-builder friend who can include them in his next order so I can save on postage). Has...

    BMS Replacement - Ezee Battery

Hi Folks, I have an Ezee 48v, 10Ah 'flatpack' battery of the type sold by bikes.ca (where it's now 14Ah). Actually I have 2 of these, one working and one non-functional. The broken one simply wasn't charging or being recognised by my CycleSatiator. I had a look at the BMS and determined that one...

Middrive vs. rear hub for my first e-bike

O'course the one option that no one has mentioned to you is the Stoke Monkey. Direct drive or geared hub motor driving through your gear train via a tandem crank set and totally under your throttle control. For someone dealing with the combination of issues you've cited this would seem to be ideal!

    Backup battery selection...

Hi Folks, I'm running a 23.5ah 52V EM3ev battery on my Big Dummy to drive a BBS-HD set at 30 amps. Despite the battery's large capacity I ran out of juice the other night and had to pedal a very(!) heavy, loaded bike home unaided for the last 6km - too far for an old bloke! So I am now...

Chain tensioner with Shimano Nexus 3 and BBSHD

I've used one of the Shimano Alfine tensioners with excellent results. They seem to have 2 designs that amount in different ways. Very high quality and reasonably priced. Sam
