Just thought I'd ressurect this ancient thread having come back to it after so long, probably few (none?) will read this given the traffic here these days but still ... funny to look back where I came from more than a decade ago now.
Now working as a elec propulsion engineer, so i have at...
it would be really interesting to see this same comparison between bus voltages with a fixed input power, to really highlight the impact of FW on output torque/power... great build btw.
Just for clarity - its Phase amps that drive torque, and they are more or less isolated/separate from battery amps (or rather, are only limited by battery power).
@ Cozen:
I have both, the stock surron is definitely a bit slower than my box in terms of torque/acceleration, though it does have...
Id have thought frame modification would be a diddle... basically just weld in a new plate on the underside of the swing arm, to match your 'top plate' bolt positions...
are you sure on the 450#? I'd calculated somewhere around 3-350, and can notice a significant increase in torque even at stock battery settings (though only at low rpms, drops off quick) - nuc shows 430-450 phA peaks.
nice work mate... mine has been on the backburner... just found out the other week I (along with many workmates) have been made redundant, and that means moving back to AUS at short notice, so might not have much time for this for a while, depends on what happens in the next couple weeks...
haha nice mate, and im jealous there's a few options you mention there that i should have asked for on mine, like mat paint, no stickers, 48v outpout etc
mines still going great, though i have managed to overheat it once (only to the point of thermal rollback, still worked but lost some of the...
I want to try and do it without modifying the bike, and i dont know if all what I want to program is available. I know with arduino I can get modules setup such that I can adjust stuff on the fly, not sure thats possible with silix. Then I have to get programming access in the first place :P...
Hey mate
1. no more switch for regen - apparently was unreliable so its now a drag brake. So no cutoff - from having one on the surron i think i prefer that anyway - its dangerous when you can touch the brakes and have the throttle in any position (without the audio feeback you'd get from a ICE)...
