Regular unleaded by my house is $3.799. It's been going up a cent or two each day for about a month now.

Yep Regular went up 2 cents here too near my house. It was $3.25 for a long time. Now $3.27, not too bad.

    List of small hatchback cars

We have two 2007 Prius's (Prii) and you're right, they've been very reliable except for maybe the oil rings. These cars start burning oil sometime after 100K miles. The trick is to switch them from 5w30 to 10w30 oil which cuts oil consumption by quite a bit though not completely. I figured...

Window AC converted to central. First 94F day of season #6 page 9

I like home built projects like this. I bet it works well too. But since this forum is made up of mostly amateur UL inspectors, I'll try to save them some time: The electrical connections need to be in a rated asbestos enclosure. The heating element needs to be in an...

    gas price thread

I was surprised to see $3.79 for regular unleaded. It was at a Chevron which is a nicer station. They did say in the news that gas prices are at a 4 year high.

EV Incentives List (that kick GAS!)

California wants to raise the rebate from $2,500 to $4,500. Is it a rebate? I think they just send you a check.

    Upgrade ebike build

I also manually monitor my charging but for safety I would add a one hour spring wound time switch in the cord of your charger. I'm sure it has saved me more than once and after I got used to how much time to set on the timer, I have learned to set the time for about an 80% charge which can...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

Too bad but thanks anyway! I remember when google was just starting up and their mantra was "do no evil". I guess that's starting to go by the wayside.

Sheesh, even if the Arctic King lasts only 2 cooling seasons you're still ahead. It's nice that it has a 5 star rating too. 8)

EV Myths - add your own!

How about a used electric? I calculated my used 2012 i-miev I've had for 3 years is costing me $1750 annually with depreciation. Buying a set of tires for it about killed me but I faithfully included it in the cost.

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

Well, I did it. I bought a Samsung Tab A 10.1 inch Tablet at Costco for $179 ($90 off) and downloaded Canion (an app for the Mitsubishi i-miev) and synced up to the car. It gave me the pack voltage and temperature, etc. but I haven't tried driving around with it yet. All in good time...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

This is a good idea. There's an excellent app called "Canion" for the Mitsubishi i-miev that's for Android phones and tablets but I lost my Android tablet out of a suitcase on an airline flight. No big deal, I'll find another tablet but, it was a little bulky trying to plug everything in...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

My sister has the same car as your's and she loves it. What happened is about 5 years ago my two sisters and I needed to go to my grandmother's funeral in Portland, Oregon. Having a 2007 Prius, I volunteered to drive and we left the SF Bay Area (with a full tank) and decided to stop...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

That's a good point. The CA might not be built for that kind of voltage. Plus, I don't know if I'd want to work around that kind of live voltage. Maybe if I work on the other side of a contactor but then the CA might not record charging data. The car has been trouble free enough anyway. My...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

5.1 mile per Kw is really good for a car with a 0.326 coefficient of drag. Just for comparison the older Leafs are 0.28 but my i-miev is 0.35 which is terrible. It's shaped like a tiny minivan but still has the same drag as some SUVs and trucks. Since i-mievs don't come with any real...

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

I have a 2012 Mitsubishi i-miev that I bought used for about $9K back in July 2015. I don't really have anything to measure total electric consumption but I can list some generalities here. I use this car for mostly commuting to work for 32 miles round trip Monday through Friday plus I drive...

That's awesome. I only notice gas prices because I sit at a traffic light next to a gas station that has 8 pumps with hoses on both sides that serves 16 suckers at a time and this station is always full! At least I'm sitting in an electric like this one.
