    Tube Battery Cutting Off

I have an AmpedBikes tube battery. It is a couple of years old (beyond warranty) running on an E-Bike Kit geared kit. Apparently, it is cutting out when going uphill. The bike looses power. The confusing thing is that if I unplug the battery, and then plug it back in again, the bike works...

    brake lights

Can anyone recommend how to switch on brake lights when the brakes are applied? My brakes have switches in them which disengages the controller when the brakes are applied. Do people use a relay in line with this, or a FET? I haven't figured out the wiring (normally open or closed switches)...

Can you use a geared hub motor as a mid-drive?

Can you use a geared hub motor as a mid-drive motor if you run it in reverse (reversed the phase wires) to get it not to freewheel? My guess you would have to reverse the sensors as well to get it to run in reverse as well.

Will 56 volts fry my controller?

I have an E-bike kit, which is advertised to 48 V. I currently run on 36V, and was shipped 18V batteries instead of the 14.4V batteries I ordered, which I am planning on running in series with the 36V. Does anyone have experience with this. I also have their geared hub motor. I don't want to...

    Large capacitors in controller capacitance

It looks like I damaged one of the large capacitors in my controller (it is bulged out) from riding down a hill without the battery connected. Is the capacitance value of this important, or as long as I replace it with a capacitor with the same voltage specification, and a higher capacitance...

    Hub motor short?

I have a 20" amped bikes wheel on my recumbent tadpole. Tonight, going down a hill (at about 30mph) all of a sudden the motor started to shutter violently. It seems like the some of phase wires are shorted. Could this have happened. I had the battery disconnected so that the motor wouldn't...

NuVinci Harmony (automatic transmission for ebikes)

Anyone know more about the NuVinci Harmony http://www.gizmag.com/nuvinci-harmony-cvp-ebike-transmission/19473/ Automatic transmission for e-bikes. My guess is that power goes through the gearing, which is an advantage.

    Pedal drive vs parallel drive

It seems like many projects involve 2 parallel chains (i.e. one from the motor and one from the pedals). Is there a topic where this rationale is explained. My guess is that the existing drive is power limited. The disadvantage is you don't get the gearing.

What is the best way to add 12 V

I have an ampedbikes direct drive motor on a 20" rim with their 36V Lithium battery. As expected, I have a desire for more speed :). Is their an easy way to add 12V? I was considering putting 3 Turnigy 3400mAh 3S2P 30C LiFe Pack (Long) (9.9V)...

What do the number in 9X7 hub motor mean

I have been searching through the board, and am still confused what the 9 and the 7 mean in a 9X7 hub motor. I gather that the 7 is the turn count, but what is the 9?
