    Somewhere in a Brooklyn basement...

Very true. The bb is high off the ground and with the setup in the first pics, the seat very low, it is uncomfortable to just sit on with feet on the pedals. The Thudbuster raises that seat and brings it back slightly, making it bearable. However, as you guessed, pedaling this bike is for...

    Somewhere in a Brooklyn basement...

Well, the kydex box is in, and so is the thudbuster. Planning to have paint work done on St.Marks by the guy who did my ink. Will post before I go there, for now, those plans are for the end of October

    Somewhere in a Brooklyn basement...

That's correct sir, enough to fit a 20s 14p setup, with mounting points for a Max-e under the bar. There is no accounting for taste. Also, I find your lack of faith disturbing...

Can I still paint it white after Labor Day?

    Somewhere in a Brooklyn basement...

Summer weather has put me in a cruising mood. This is only a rough rolling mock-up, to be taken to local ironworks for some "slight" remodeling... Okay, one more: more pics to come after welding is done.

What's the most reliable and maintenance free brakes?

For stopping a 30-40mph bike, four piston brakes will do a better job. DH brakes are designed for stopping bikes that go about that speed, and I always try to use them over a regular-trail rated brakes. If Shimano Saints ate too pricey, Zee brakes are cheaper, but totally worth it.

    52mph Mongoose Dolomite deathtrap

Wow that looks really dangerous! Those nylon ties will not hold much any force, I would turn regen off for now.

What tires will fit which rims?

There are a couple of tricks that I use. First, the tire cannot have a thick rubber tread in the middle, like the profile pic above(like Kenda Flame). If you put that on a wider rim, the tire will square out like a car tire shape. Some people actually like that look, but I find that it...

What tires will fit which rims?

I've had luck so far, matching rim and tire combos that are not common, but seem to work great ( at least to me). For example, the first one was a Schwalbe Big Apple 2.0 on a 65mm wide Surly Large Marge rim. Doesn't seem like it will work, but the balloon tire opens up and seats itself nicely...

Looking for attractive but effective mudguard

The RockGuardz works well with my 29er 2.45 inch tire, but MadRhino is right, it could be longer and wider. If you run really fat tires, Big O Manufacturing has a good selection of 4 and 5 inch fender sets.http://stores.bigomfg.com/fender-kits/ Easily adaptable to your frame or fork of choice...

Looking for attractive but effective mudguard

You're in the UK, good mud guards are made there. For the front, check out RockGuardz, they are available in different lengths, or D-Fender. For the rear, MudHugger rear fender. All made in UK, my go-to place for fenders.

    Comfortable speed

I usually don't visit these parts, but I saw the other thread and had to vote here too. I routinely hit speeds not even mentioned in the poll on the downhill part of my commute (that's 5 times a week, folks). Sometimes, I envy those people who are satisfied with 20mph. Must be nice to always...

    Meet "SuMo" - WarDog's Weapon

That looks awesome! Short wheelbase with high power - gonna be a wheelie machine! By the pics, it looks like a 40xx series vented Crystalyte, but maybe the pics are small or my vision is getting bad, I don't see any torque arms. If you are planning 72v with that motor, you need them.

Silver Bullet - A 1998 Hoffman "George" BMX conversion

Awesome build, nice and simple. Your kid is lucky! In the pics, it looks like the power wires make a loop, that may get a bit melty at 20s as the wires make an induction coil. I would straighten those out along the frame or shorten them. The phase wires aren't really coiled, but could lay along...

    Hacking a Couple Stromers

No problem, glad I could help. BTW, that motor is a beast, I got it up to 40mph cruising speed (and more, up to about 47) on 21s and Lyen 18fet sensorless in a 24" wheel. That thing has a lot of torque. Have fun with the other one

    Hacking a Couple Stromers

8 pole pairs, Dnmun is right. With a 26" wheel your adaptto speed ratio number should be between 250 and 280 depending on tire size. It would still run autodetect with an incorrect speed ratio, but you would get the speedometer errors and power loss. Which is exactly what is happening. I learned...

    Hacking a Couple Stromers

It would be simpler to mark it by just running a sharpie across the seam here on your first pic: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KRQ2xYaKGlg/VDnOSF0MZZI/AAAAAAAArv4/k0ZWEVrrzTo/w816-h612-no/20141011_182716.jpg IIRC in the A2B the four wires were Pos, Neg, Throttle signal and Brake signal...
