1080p60 video of the BB kit on a Motobecane Sturgis bullet. EXMmedVzNUA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXMmedVzNUA I have this limited to 3kw right now. No issues in any gear except 10t rear, 10t only handles about 1.5kw before the derailure can't keep enough wrap on it. Super super happy...

I use 4mm bullets. Same ones that come on a lot of the Turnigy lipo. Works fine, cheap and easy.

Last update. After adding a small brace and tightening a bolt that was previously just snug, no more flex issues. Bike hits 42mph on 3kw. Much faster than my needs, happy with the build as it stands today. I am amazed the stock sram 10spd chain is holding up along with the Novatek rear...

So I modified the cav3 settings some more and I can now lift the front with throttle on demand from low speeds. Lag time between twisting the throttle to wheel lifting is instant. This is achieved without killing the ridability of the bike either. You can still creep and roll on smoothly...

I think your CAV3 throttle settings are going to vary quite a bit even if you use the parts you listed. I use those parts and have different settings. Believe it's the tolerance of the low cost electrical bits in the throttle that cause this. Here's a short video of the bike in some urban...

Pictures: https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B0CrnjS7-w-iWG1iVWlUNHA3SUU/edit Well I have had my BB kit installed with minor fit changes required to clear my 197mm rear dropouts on the Motobecane Sturgis Bullet for about 100 miles now. Initially the 219 chain was difficult to keep tight but...

Don't underestimate the Booger.... embed may not work right so here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDdbg_Q-LMI One of the best scenes in a movie ever comedy wise :) Hopefully a little humor injection in this thread doesn't detract too much...if there's objections I'll remove!

    LightingRod kit standard 09/2014 edition

Two options on that bolt in my opinion. Install threaded insert for the same size bolt as original. Use a low head profile bolt installed in the other direction. Flat head bolt will not be the type to use as they require a countersunk hole to achieve "flat head" result. This may get you...

Going to step up on a podium here for moment..... I have a background in rugged military electronics that involve very high levels of vibration and shock as part of the product specifications. I bring this up only because the response I get most often after what I'm about to say is, "you must...

Mcmaster and fastenal appear to have high strength m5 hardware available for anyone working with your current revision kits. Unless you need a length that isn't stocked normally you should have an easy source. Since I don't have a kit myself yet it's hard to give more specific advice or...

Ti can be a mixed bag strength wise. I don't have a reference chart handy. However this may be a good starting point. In general they do not recommend replacing 8.8 or higher with "Their" Ti products...

Careful with statements like "you won't break stainless". Stainless is actually not very compelling strength wise in many applications. Try attaching a motorcycle sprocket with stainless bolts some time, it won't end well. Mixed grade chart...

Good to hear you will document your fat bike build as I have a BB kit on order too and I am sure it will be helpful to reference your efforts. Although Mike says his orders have dried up from this thread, I would think at some point that would be normal due to saturation of exposure to ES...

Well I'm pretty sure it's an external bearing setup from the factory. Looks like I'll need to learn what will need to be replaced. Here's the bike: http://www.motobecane.com/fat/sturgisb.html

And not all ES member orders are on that list. I am a good example of that. I think you will see that list get deliveries quicker moving forward.

I have used cut outs countless times, they work great! Just using tools I have access to makes sense to me. It is surprisingly easy to get objects into 3d space these days without spending a fortune.

I am using a Motobecane Sturgis bullet. It is a Fatboy clone with a 120mm Bluto fork. Hopefully works out well one way or another. I may end up 3D scanning the bike so I can make a clean install of everything using Solidworks. Just waiting for everything to arrive.

He answered my email too. He is ramping up staff and suppliers so things are moving along. I don't have an eta on my big block kit but I am certain it's being worked on. Haven't exceeded the original time estimate yet so all is normal from my point of view. As a bonus he is incorporating...

Field Weakening VS Gear Box VS Higher voltage battery

Sounds like you want a step up converter, but only at light loads. Technically possible, but you will take an efficiency hit. Likely much better to devote the cost and extra space required to batteries to get the voltage directly. But if range is no concern and you have the ability to...

Stand-Up Scooter, what to buy? Please Help

I think making your own stand up results in a much more capable end product. Slip a 10t mac in a g4 kick bike and you have a 30mph+ capable machine with plenty of torque. I use 1/3 of the available power to hit 30mph too so a higher speed wind would go even faster. Speed isn't everything of...
