Quick (and probably stupid) question about the anderson tap

I just went to buy one of these: http://www.ebikes.ca/andersontap.html and then I noticed it has a 2.5a polyfuse. Does this mean I wouldn't be able to power lights which use more than 2.5a? If so that seems a bit low doesn't it? The light I was hoping to power uses 12v at 3.6a on maximum power...

I opened my hub motor and found this....

I only removed a couple of the sprags, and have now put them all back in place, which was pretty fiddly, but its now missing the plastic retainer in places. The motor seems to work, at least for the time being, hooray! :D The grinding noise I described in the first post was just one of the...

I opened my hub motor and found this....

As it had shattered I decided it definitely had to be removed before any more broke off and got caught in the gears. But it turns out its not actually a magnet. I dont really know what it is but it looks important. Does anyone know what it is and if I can get a new one? I've contacted BMC who...

I opened my hub motor and found this....

Hi guys. I've just taken my motor apart to tap some new threads for the cover plate as all the old ones had been stripped. When I went to put it back together, there was a grinding sound in one direction so I took the motor out of the casing and found this: The magnetic ring has broken. :(...

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

Hello again everyone. I've received my new BMC controller, but there seems to be something wrong. Its identical to my previous one- 38-60VDC, 50A, but for some reason my bike wont go any faster than about 17mph, and there's a delay in acceleration when I increase throttle. It used to do about...

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

Cheers Teklektik! Yeah think I'll just buy a new BMC controller. I'll try and fix my old one and I'm bound to frock it up, so better just to buy a new one now. It will be good practice and if I can make it work again I'll give it to my mate because he's going to buy one soon. Thanks for your...

    Bosch Nyon Performance

Has anyone had any experience with these? zOmok6tVQRg Looks pretty good! P7zCQEZmE8I Does anyone know if these can work with non-bosch parts? Would I be able to connect this to my battery and BMC V4? Would this replace the CA AND controller?? Imagine if someone could write some customised...

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

I guess its worth a try. Soldering really isnt my strong point though but i know someone who's pretty good at this kind of thing. Does anyone know what rating mosfets I need to buy to replace them? I've just been checking to see if anything good has come out since I bought my kit 18 months ago...

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

Yeah it was limited but I cant remember what to and I cant check at the moment because its all in bits. I'll probably just stick with exactly what I had before because the controller was mounted on top of my battery and I don't want to have to tap in some more holes if the mounting points are...

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

Cheers for your help guys. I've tested the controller with a multimeter and yeah, it looks like the mosfets have blown. I guess I'm going to have to get a new one. It's a BMC 50a controller. Does anyone here sell them in the UK?

Help needed troubleshooting a water damaged ebike.

Hi guys. Storm Frank was too much for my bike and it died in the middle of a torrential storm. I've taken the cover plate off my hub motor and left it in a warm dry place to dry out for a few days but its still not working. The CA looks like its working fine, so I guess the battery must be fine...

Replacement casing and/or bolts for BMC V4

Happy New Year everyone! I had a bit of a mishap a couple of days ago. I was riding in very heavy rain and my motor packed up. Theres water inside the motor and I've been trying to open it up to let it dry out, but one bolt is completely stuck in there. I'm going to have to drill it out...

Does anyone know the type of cable used on BMC motors?

Hi guys, unfortunately while I was at the pub last thursday, a large drunk lady fell into my bike and somehow managed to completely smash up the cables at the point where they go into the motor. Going to have to take the motor apart and resolder some new cables inside  Does anyone know...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Here are a few ideas I'd like to see implemented in the CA v4 (any idea when its coming btw?): A built in DC converter which can output 5v, 8.4v and 12v. I have spent soooo much time trying to find a solution to power my lights, and it seems like most people would love to power their lights...

Are there any good alternatives to the CA v3?

Yeah it looks pretty good actually: MrkhyKq3YoA Much nicer screen. We don't have to worry about that here in the UK ;) All we really need is waterproofing. :D

Are there any good alternatives to the CA v3?

I'd have thought the wind would keep it cool while you're moving, but if the phone was connected wirelessly you could keep it in your pocket on very hot/wet days. It would also be good for people who want the flexibility of a CA but also want to keep their bike looking as "non-electric" as...

Are there any good alternatives to the CA v3?

Yeah sorry, I guess that wasn't especially contructive, and Tekletic, you've done a great job on the guide, although a lot of it is well above my level at the stage I'm at now, and at the beginning it completely fried my brain, although I guess that is to be expected if you're learning a new...

I'm starting to get a little bit frustrated with my CA, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good alternatives?

Need help choosing a DC converter for this light

I guess I was mainly talking about those DC multi-converters with selectable polarity. I have one but I'm afraid to test it. I think I'd better learn how to test polarity with my multimeter just to be safe. Getting there slowly.

Need help choosing a DC converter for this light

Awesome, thanks for your help :) My lights arrived in the post today. I have just measured the current it draws from the battery and it was 1.5a, for anyone who's interested.

Heated glove charger to power two lights at the same time.

I assumed 20A would be far too much. Can you have any amp rating you like as long as its more than the light needs, and the light will take as much as it needs? Or will the charger put its full amp rating into the light and potentially burn it out?
