    Tire failure

The model was Pilot Sport protek 26x2.3 (folding bead) but it's been renamed to Michelin Energy.(same tread) The biggest size is only 26x1.85 since the new name.

    Tire failure

I've lowered down to 24psi front, 28psi rear. Tires still working after 200 miles and no flats. I see a "gas tax" sign on the side of the road saying they are going to fix the pavement. Good thing I'm not paying much for it.

    Tire failure

I got a 100 miles on my new Kenda K-rad tires wire bead. No flats yet. Running 28 psi in front, 30 psi rear. It cuts right through a long stretch of asphalt milling.

    Lead acid anyone?

I just got 4 new sla's. One has a big dent in it from shipping. Now I'm waiting to see what the seller is going to say about it.

    Lead acid anyone?

One time I read about putting Epsom salt and water in a worn sla battery. I tried it and it didn't do anything. It was suppose to make the sla like new again or at least better. I saw a video on it. Didn't work for me. I guess it's a just a myth. I later read about a chemist talking about...

    Tire failure

I run the bigger tires because I have heavy sla's on board. The slicks were 26x2.2 which are long gone discontinued. I wanted to go bigger so I got Michelin 26x2.3's. They were nice and big and only weighed 670g! Eventually one got a lump so I took that one off and put the worn slick back on...

    Lead acid anyone?

Yep, I'm running Powersonic also. 48v 9ah. I started with BB but they want too much for those now. They have the shipping cost way up to fool you. :)

    Lead acid anyone?

I'm still on lead acid. It sucks but the total cost to switch to lithium is still too much. I'm about to buy new sla's again as I'm pedaling too much. I get about 2 years out of the cheap ones. The higher quality sla's cost too much now so I use the cheap ones and they don't last as long.

    Tire failure

 It said 75psi max pressure. I was only at 50 psi. I usually run 40 though but I need new batteries so I pumped up higher. What really sucks is that they keep discontinuing my tires. I had some Michelins that were really nice. They were 2.3 but actually measured 2.5". Great tire. Its...

    Tire failure

I got some new tires! I haven't used Kenda before but I see them being used on new E-bikes. They roll pretty good. A quiet hum to them. Only running 30 psi right now as they break in.

    Tire failure

It looks like I may be able fix the tube for $2. Slime makes some bigger patches for wheel barrels etc. I run double thick tubes which run about $13.

    Tire failure

 I guess my tube is not fixable. It has a 5/8" hole in it. Maybe you might like to see my sidewall patch I did awhile back. It worked. It had a big hole! :)

    Tire failure

Thump Thump Thump Thump Thump...... KA-BOOM!!! Luckily I was about home with a full load of groceries. It was an old tire. Very loud though!

    My battery builds

Looks good. Thanks for sharing. I've been using sla's for too long now. Someday I'll make the switch to 18650. Does the anti spark XT-90 connector get rid of the spark at the switch? My key switch gets pitted out after awhile. Then it gets hot and de-solders. I take it apart and sand the...

    WE BL36 Resurrection

Nice links. I'm still stuck on sla's. :( Probably forever.

    Schwalbe or Maxxis or Kenda

The Kiniptions 26x2.3 look interesting at 850g - fold up. The DTH's 26x2.3 are lighter at 650g - fold up. The Schwalbe Big Apple 26x 2.35 is 780g - wire bead. The Schwalbe Super Moto 26 x 2.35 is 630g - folding. I like tires around 750g or under. :)

    Schwalbe or Maxxis or Kenda

Looks like the choices are still slim for e-bikes. More tires being discontinued. Now they're making a whole bunch of "Fat tires" but no smaller sizes. I was looking at a Maxxis DTH 26x2.3. Anyone tried those? Schwalbe's are $40 each. Yikes.

    Remove Microphone off PCB

Good news! I didn't ruin my camera. It now works with the new mic although the gain could be turned down a little somehow. The camera doesn't have that feature. I soldered on to the trace on the back side. It was bigger then the one on the front. Damn these are small traces!

Ok. I'll check those traces out.

    Remove Microphone off PCB

Thanks for the replies. I got it off but something happened to the middle contact on the board. Probably got ripped off. :x I don't understand this type of mic with center positive. Might have to find the trace on the other side. The lapel mic I bought was going to be external if I can fix...

    Remove Microphone off PCB

It's on there pretty good. I don't want to destroy it. It has soldering pads rather thin pins so yes it is surface mount. Need a soldering iron with a thin putty knife attachment. Scoop it off.

    Remove Microphone off PCB

I have one of those solder suckers. I don't see any holes though. On the backside of the board looks like this:

    Remove Microphone off PCB

I have a different mic I wanted to try for this camera board. A simple question but what's the best way to desolder the mic when there is no pins on the back side? I may want to reuse it if the new one doesn't work out. I know you guys are smart in here. :)

    Tires - Balloon/Urban type

Looks like Michelin Pilots are discontinued now. The replacement is Michelin Energy which looks like the same tread design but only available in 700c. Then they say it's for ebikes. :? On a side note, it looks like Bontrager Hanks tires are back again. I'd run a liner of some sort if...

    Tires - Balloon/Urban type

I got a flat today and I noticed while fixing the flat that the sidewall is already starting to crack or dry rot. Wow, its only been one year. Shame on you Michelin engineers! The bontragers were much better and didn't crack.
