    Help debugging Kelly KD controller

I'm currently trying to get my setup with a PM motor and my Kelly KD 72401 controller to work and having some issues with it. Basically I have it wired as shown in the manual. The only problem is it does not give me enough voltage from the RLY terminal to run my 12v-24v nominal contactor. With...

Help troubleshooting with Goodrum BMS v2

Long story short I have a Goodrum BMS v2 which I've assembled and I'm stuck trying to test it. Unfortunately I'm stuck and my electrical engineering skills are pretty rudimentary. What I have is a rather nifty 72v Headway battery pack which I am trying to charge with a Zivan charger specially...

Advice Needed - Headway vs Thundersky

Yes I am considering the 60AH TS cells. My vehicle calculation spreadsheet tells me I'll be drawing about 60amps continuous when cruising so it seems that 60Ah is the minimum. The problem is I don't know how much current will be needed for acceleration. There will be points where I will need to...

Advice Needed - Headway vs Thundersky

Yeah, while I'm glad this thread has gotten attention it hasn't quite been the attention I'd been hoping for. I still am a bit at a loss as to if Thundersky's would be underpowered for my bike. If I should go with Sky Energy cells. Or if I should just get the Headways. Here is the thread I...

    Headway Pack Builders thread

Has anyone found any other ways to make/buy bus bars? For my project I'd have to make more than 40 for the cells in series and that makes me hesitate on headways a bit. I suppose I could pay more for a 1" wide copper strip from mcmastercarr and then use a bandsaw to cut it into 2.5" lengths...

Advice Needed - Headway vs Thundersky

Oh, no way am I going to consider cellman cells. They look amazing but the foil tabs look like hell to deal with. I'm going for something that will provide the "easiest" solution. @ahambone. I have to say that I've seen your pack here and on diyelectric car and the headway pack I envision...

Advice Needed - Headway vs Thundersky

Ok, this is a question that I've been flipflopping on for about a year now. So far I've been able to put it off by saying "Oh, well I don't really need the batteries until X is finished" but now it is the home stretch, I've got everything I need except the batteries. So for my motorcycle with a...

    Headway Battery Rust Issue

That does seem like a serious issue. I'd be interested in hearing if this is a problem for more users as I decide if I'm going to get headways or not. By the way, Lock, where did you get those cell holders and did you make those aluminum buss strips yourself?

Zivan Charger:What kind of plug is this?

yeah my Zivan is secondhand off ebay. It ended up being 75 dollars to ship it in and get it rechipped but even with that additional charge I ended up saving about 200 dollars on the charger overall. Still that doesn't answer my question of what kind of connector is that? Am I going to be put...

Zivan Charger:What kind of plug is this?

So I have a Zivan charger I want to use for my LiFePO4 pack, I had it sent in and rechipped. Unfortunately I never though to ask them what kind of plug it is using for output. I was told it was an anderson powerpole but after comparing it to a powerpole it does not appear to be one. Can somebody...

    36v20AH Lifepo4 for $312 !!! total

While the 12v pack from ElitePowerSolutions is cheaper , buying 4 individual cells is cheaper from evcomponents for 40AH and up. Of course this is disreguarding shipping. Personally with these price drops I'm still torn between getting the headway or the TS cells from evcomponents for my 72v...

    Zivan output plug question

Ok, here is a simple one. I just got a used zivan 72v charger, what kind of plug to I need to interface with the dc out?

    The Zivan NG1 revealed

I got lucky and managed to snag one off of ebay for $300. It has the following sticker on it. "Micro Upgraded, I2 Increased, T3 Extended" Trojan : U1 85.3V : I2 4A : I3 2.6A : Ur 76.8V: Restart 7 day: 130Ah. I'm wondering if I can use this if I change the voltages but I'm not sure how to manage...

    Stringing 36v chargers in serial

I'm not sure I understand, how does one isolate a charger? Does it mean severing the connection to the ground plug on the input side?

    Stringing 36v chargers in serial

I am having trouble picking a good 72v charger to test my open BMS on. I may just take pgt400's advice and string together 2 36v chargers to make a 72v charger. If both are identical with the same current and voltage limits it seems like it should work. My question is would they share voltage...

    "Delta-Q" 72v Charger

I just found this in my endless search to find a 72v charger compatible with the Open BMS. http://www.delta-q.com/products/quiq.shtml Some stores selling it: http://gpev.us/batcat.html http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&theParentId=1792&id=5350 Has anyone heard...

Even Newer 4 to 24-cell Battery Management System (BMS)

So I'm still really torn on what would be the ideal charger to match with this BMS. If I order a Zivan I want to make sure I'm using the best possible combination. Would an constant current constant voltage curve or IUa curve of say 15Amps with a voltage of 87v (24 Cells) be the best? Or would...

    Power supply?

So is there anything special about the 10 Ohm 10W resistor. That would draw 500mA from the 5V line and use 2.5Watts right? Would it work with a 1KOhm 5Watt power resistor which would just drawn 5mA? I have a couple spare of those but no 10 Ohm resistors.

    Choosing a 72V? charger

Well it turns out that they do have a few charger in stock so I may be able to pull something. http://elitepowersolutions.com/products/product_info.php?products_id=79 Would it be possible to chain two of these together as a 72v 6A charger or would there be something that would mess that up...

    Choosing a 72V? charger

Unfortunately Elite Power Solutions is sold out of pretty much every type of their chargers. They won't be getting more in stock for 8 weeks! I don't know if I can wait that long.

Even Newer 4 to 24-cell Battery Management System (BMS)

A quick question about transistors. I have a transistor labeled FAN431 and another labeled KSA931 which are not in the schematic. Do I have the following right. FAN431 = LM431 = U102 KSA931 = BD136 = Q101 And my Power MOSFET Transistor = Q4 Do I have that right?

    The Zivan NG1 revealed

Ahh I think I've got it now. I'll get a 72v NG1 if I can find one. The only problem being the charging curve. How much does Zivan charge for a IUa curve chip? I'm assuming that you can order one and install it yourself. I'm interested in what you've found out about re-chipping.

    The Zivan NG1 revealed

I have some questions which will clear up some of my confusion. Is the NG1 a single charger which can be set for any voltage between 24-90VDC or a line of chargers which cover that range of voltages? Also are people changing these settings themselves or just getting them preprogramed by Zivan...
