I think this project should be renamed to StreetCrawler, not StreetRunner. It really has been a slow pace getting this completed. But things have been moving along nicely recently. I've been motivated and working on it for a couple of hours or more each day. I finished the wiring to the point...

Hi guy's I have been looking into doing the chrome spray myself. But the cost and the infrequent future use may not be worth it. I do have a friend that is restoring (sorta) a 1926/27 T. He needs some similar bling as I do. Maybe there is an option to go together on a spray kit. Can't use...

I'm Back! I really never left, Sorry folks for being away so long. I've missed keeping everyone up on my progress, or lack thereof. I just took some time away from the project. Finished enclosing the inner walls of my shop, and put up badly needed shelves. The weather has turned nice, and...

How sweet it is to see some color. Not without some setback and redo. A mishap with the spray gun, ruined the first basecoat, requiring a complete repaint. Then the spray gun spattered on the second go requiring another basecoat repaint. (My bad for not cleaning the gun well enough) So this...

Adding a bit of color to this project. I'm using Rustoleum silver 'textured' metallic for a base coat. It is a very rough paint, which I have chosen to leave rough. In the first trial, I sanded down (lightly) the silver and lost much of the brilliance. After experimenting with the color coat...

I could have done that. I have a half roll of R30 left from previous insulating jobs. But I already had 80% done with the foam board. I had one, 1" board left from ????, so it fit the build nicely. I will have to sacrifice my shed door of its remaining foam to finish the top and sides. I may...

Brace yourself for this next step! Resting in a very undignified position the top 'bows' are installed. Salvaged from old metal shed floor framing that never got used, these make perfect braces for the top. They also provide a means of attaching the interior headliner. Because of the heat...

Time for an update. Took some time away from the build. Other matters needed taking care of. Now the earth is on fire🔥, literally. Temps at my house is hovering around 101-102 (F) with 105-107(F) in the shade at times. The humidity is up as well so my shop cooler isn't very effective. Inside...

I pondered that for a moment and I will be designing mirrors or mounting a camera on each light that will monitor their function via an overhead screen in the cab. Solve a problem - create a problem.

Overactive flasher problem solved – sorta! A friend of mine figured out that the circuit wasn't getting enough resistance. I hope I can explain this for all (well almost all) to understand. He added an incandescent bulb (his mock-up demo) to each of the turn signal directions (one left, one...

I have done the hook-up you suggest and found no change. I have determined already that the point of contact is as shown in the attachment. However, as in the previous experiment, when I isolated that point, there was no contact until I put the switch back together and it started flashing again.

But that is not what is happening. Leaving the blue wire off means that 'nothing' works. I tried using a new wire directly from the 'L' to the ground and it created a direct short and blew another fuse. I suppose because there was no 'load' other than the flasher. As far as having pilot lights...

I wish what you say would work, but it doesn't. That's another reason why the confusion. I have two, identical flashers, and the result is the same, regardless of which one I use. I've put the blue/pilot light wire on both P and L and I get the same result. With the red wire 12v connected to...

Answer yes. I've just woke up from my power nap and realized my previous answer wasn't quite accurate. I haven't had the wires to the lights hooked up since shortly 'after' this problem started. Specifically, I had the front turn lights hooked up and during that time I discovered the problem...

I have done that a dozen times. I get the same result every time. I found this: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/help-old-style-chrome-clamp-on-turn-signal.444587/. It appears that I'm not losing my brain cells. Finally, I have found what I believe is proof that the problem is as I...

I can remove the switch handle completely from the switch, connect, the red PWR wire to the flasher (X) and just the blue wire to either (P) or (L) touch the frame with the isolated handle and the flasher and indicator light (on the handle) will function.

Well said and understood. The question still remains, what is the electrical pathway that keeps the flasher working while in the 'off' position? The black wire is tied into the 4-way contacts when the sliding contacts are moved. And shouldn't come into play until the 4-way pull handle is pulled...

FYI - my helpers Some more clarity maybe. The red wire marked (12 volt PWR) is actually the wire that would be going to the brake switch. And looking at the three (RED) contacts on the bottom half of the switch All three are contacting the three corresponding three in the upper half when the...

The wiring diagram shows the black wire going between the switch and the flasher. Tracing the path, in reality, the black wire goes as shown.

Thanks, fechter How does something that appears to be so simple cause such a problem? If you need more pics just ask.
