Please help me to learn solar inverters, and what I should look for.

I want to patch and assemble a solar system from used parts for my home, and routinely used solar inverters appear on Govdeals- mostly from technical colleges and electrical programs who are swapping out used ones for newer tech with updated features. I've tried to learn what I can about them...

Rad Power Batteries are now UL certified and fully potted

If it's a form of polyurethane that is springy to absorb shock, then it's not absurd to think it would be "squishy" and easily torn apart for opening and recycling. Some urethanes can also be eaten away at using some chemicals or solvents for removal. I don't really see why it's worth shouting...

Rad Power Batteries are now UL certified and fully potted

Paul, you gotta step up your past thread on potting compounds! We gotta catch up :D For commercial use I feel like the potting is the right call. Do we know what compound they're using for this?

Per the Open Inverter wiki, maybe a Gen3 Prius inverter? Those can be Lebowski brained and fully controlled. https://openinverter.org/wiki/Toyota_Prius_Gen3_Board

Should I even Bother?- Question about used batteries and resistances.

You weren't kidding Dui Ni, the opus can't test jack! All these cells were fully charged more than a year ago and shoved into a basement- they're all testing between 51-55 miliohm in resistance and most have even kept their charge at over 4.1v. I've now begun discharging them down to 3.6...

Should I even Bother?- Question about used batteries and resistances.

So, got the tester and began messing with it. First round of cells checked were the Samsung SDI -28As.

    More greed from Auto manufacturers

Huh, I never knew about PlugInSupply. Suck's that they're gone. Yeah I too am hoping that Deere gets their comeuppance, but to be frank the future is pointing towards the full death of family farms outside of smaller co-ops and specialty items. Just not profitable enough otherwise, which is only...

Where should I buy a bike wheel?

Thanks amber. Just rim and spokes. So far- typical bike duty so double-walled aluminum or alloy with eyeletted nipple holes. Any good manufacturers?

Where should I buy a bike wheel?

I need a new wheel for my first hub motor build, but the local bike shop near me didn't have any spares or used wheels in stock that could fit my bike. Does anyone here have a preferred manufacturer for a basic 29 x 2.10 sized wheel with rim brakes? I'm trying to support better companies than...

jonescg's NEW electric racebike BUILD thread!

How are you bonding the nickel strip to the copper? I thought the sandwich method was using the resistance in the steel to hold the copper directly to the cell. EDIT: Nevermind! I re-read the portion about the copper tape. Very interesting...

Will this bike break if converted to ebike?

A front hub motor would look very similar to an old fashioned drum brake, and again depending on controller would also give you that option of braking via regen off the motor. That to me, adds a bit of a "stealth" aspect. Chalo pointed out earlier that the bottom bracket for these isn't...

Will this bike break if converted to ebike?

Depending on what you're willing to spend (say, if you used an ESC to run a small hub motor) you could brake using regen. If you seriously doubt you'll be going anywhere fast, that could be a great option and keep you from having to fabricate something.

    VanMoof bankrupt

To add onto that, you also seem to have to research heavily the eBike in general, because one with "available" parts doesn't necessarily mean they're easily found and sourced. I learned that with my free Sondor's THIN; it has an 80mm dropout and runs 28" in tires, really strange combinations...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Hillhater and Ian are proving my point, that there's groups of people there's no purpose to speak or talk to outside of "We're doing this now, deal with it" when it comes to serious issues because they just refuse to even accept reality; I before have watched hill twist himself into a pretzel...

PaulD's Experiments with Endothermic Potting Compounds

It's probably an additive affect; I can't remember the name of it, but there's a specific term for like, when roadies would tape down connections and wiring and find that two parallel lengths of tape with a slight overlap hold better than two on top of each other, or are parallel and don't...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

You're quoting right wing propaganda at me word for word, and you're not an American so you don't really know what they're doing now. Now, I'll fully proclaim my feelings on them- but you...

"Low information folks" jesus lad, talking down to someone never looks good. Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

I personally, have hit a point where the instant I hear classic comments like that I refuse to listen to the other person and rapidly start mocking them- they'll do it particularly heavily with anything renewable, if it's an EV or solar or anything. It's really just a defense mechanism against...

LK-99 -- Room Temperature Super Conductor

Lot's of "Guarded Optimism" so far, but it doesn't help that the authors have had some poor behaviors in the past about submitting papers. It's not this page from Science (maybe natural science?) but one of the groups detailed why the use of lead is pretty unusual on an atomic scale for...
