Value Added Tax is put on 'luxury' items here in the UK and in some other countries. In the UK it is normally 20%. Some consumer items are exempt from it as they are seen as a necessity items and not luxuries. An example of this is childrens clothing. But i also believe that cycle helmets are exempt :wink:
If you were buying batteries through your own business you could possibly claim the VAT back by stating they are for business purposes and not for personal private use. So NKON would provide you with a VAT receipt so you could claim back 20% of what you paid.
