2015 GNG Mid Drive crankset clutch failure, need alternative

I just installed a 2015 GNG 500W belt-drive mid drive, and the clutch in the crankset broke while I wasn't even pedaling that hard, and I only weigh 175 lbs. I emailed GNG, and they told me that all I had to do was disassemble the clutch to fix it. Well, I disassembled it only to find several pieces of broken metal inside, the remnants of the clutch pawls. I've sent them a picture, and I'm waiting for a response, but even if they send me a replacement, I fear the same thing will happen again. Has this happened to anyone that has purchased a 2015 GNG kit or any GNG kit?

Another issue I had with the GNG crankset is that one time when I was pedaling harder in a higher gear, the chain fell off and got stuck between the two crankset sprockets (not the chain from the mid drive, but the chain from the crankest to the cassette). It seems that the parts from the GNG crankset don't fit together tightly enough, flex, and/or have too much lateral runout. When I turn the crankset, I can see the sprockets moving side-to-side. Also, under high load (pulling a trailer with a few kids) with no pedaling, it skips. I haven't determined if it's coming from the crankset or the cassette, but I have a 42T cog in the rear, so I doubt that one is skipping, so I'm suspecting the crankest.

Can anyone suggest alternative ebike cranksets? I only see one design on eBay, the one where the sprockets thread onto one of the crank arms, but I've seen an instance here where someone stripped those threads while pedaling, so I don't know if the design has been updated since then. Here are two that I'm considering, and I don't even know if they're compatible with the GNG kit (I don't know if the chain will line up properly).

Another option is to buy one of their older style cranksets that came with their older mid drive kits. I wonder if those are more reliable.

Have a look through the "non hub motors" section. There's lots about it there. Maybe this one will help:

Order up one of these heavy duty freewheels

GNG replied, and they want $46.80 for a replacement. In my opinion they should send me one for free, especially since it failed in only like 3 days under very light use. I am not happy with the service thus far. I will continue to update as things progress.

Thanks! Those HD freewheels still thread onto the crank right? I hope I won't strip the threads. I wonder if there is a way to reinforce the interface.

Thanks, it will take some time to sort through all that.
