This ebike is based on a fairly long in the tooth Trek 6000 fitted with a Bafang BBS02 750w 48v mid drive. This BBS02 has been loaded with Daniel Nilsson's excellent open source firmware which operates with no issues, see the thread elsewhere on ES for more info on this. It has collected it's fair share of paint scratches and cosmetic wear and tear over the years (see photos) but is in fully operational condition.

The battery uses 6 of the once ubiquitous Turnigy 5000mah 4S hardcase packs in 12s2p arrangement. It is not fitted with a bms but the balance leads are brought out to connectors for easy checking of cell balance. This battery has now had a reasonable amount of use (c.1370 miles) and has never needed rebalancing, in fact I've just checked and the cells are still all within 0.02v of each other. So a decent battery as long as you understand the need for cell balancing and have the means to correct it if necessary, though, as stated, this has not previously been needed. Unfortunately I need the charger for other ebikes I have, so you will need to supply your own 12s, 50.4v charger. It always gave a range of around 25 miles.

The bike is set up as a comfortable road cruiser with mudguards, sprung saddle, smooth road tyres and has been totally 100% reliable, just one puncture that I can recall. Probably not a 'supercool' bike for a youngster, just a reliable road/cycle track machine. It was mainly ridden by a recently deceased family member, hence my need to move it on.

I'm finding myself a bit undecided as to how to sell this bike, it's obviously got a fairly unique setup and will only be of interest to competent diy ebikers who know what they're doing, in fact I would say that if there's any part of my description that you don't fully understand then this bike is probably not for you.

I realise the current battery might not be suitable for everyone, so I'm thinking my options are either sell as is with battery, or maybe remove the battery and sell just with the BBS02 and supply your own battery. Not sure on price, does £380 with battery, £320 without, sound about right? If you have any questions please ask. Located at Warfield, nr Brackell, Berks, UK, collection only.
