Hi, if you run a cyclone motor (with planetary gearbox) then this may be of interest........

if any of you have a gear/gearbox kicking around could you help Lyen with the manufacture of stronger gears to replace the 'soft' alloy ones fitted as stock

I am currently waiting for my motor kit to be delivered and therefore have no access to sizes etc. of the gears to help out

hopefully this will benefit quite a few on ES running high outputs with these motors :wink:

sorry Miles.....not sure on material...just assumed as they were alloy and thought I had read to that effect somewhere. If they are indeed steel then I could look into getting the teeth on my set hardened.....at least once my motor kit arrives that is

Yes, if you get the planets hardened, that should be ok. The sun pinion is already hardened. The annular gear doesn't matter. Let us know how you get on.

I have sent my partially shredded cyclone gearbox. I found this thread in the Non-hub Motor Drives section. It seems I have been spending my time lately with my other build

If Lyen can make a better quality gear for the cyclone I'm in it's a blast when it works
