Ten (10) state buildings and four  (4) privately owned buildings ( Hospitals? OR hotels? now have their own gas & oil powerplant in Hartford.
Ned Lamont (GOV) bought his own powerplant for $7.3M while removing $260K / Year property taxes from the City of Hartford.
SO MUCH IRONY ! I don't know where to begin.

Oh, it's sparktricity they're technocrats
Their Big Beautiful OIL fired plant in Ledyard CT on the Thames river lately used 30 years ago for the CT insane asylum in Norwich remains maintaines fully manned and ready to go because:
valuable assets must be ready to make juice , OK. ! :bolt:
Oh yes, and with the oil burners burning for EVER because ' ya got ta' keep 'em hot

The purchase was made despite an executive order by Gov. Ned Lamont in 2019 requiring the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to analyze and recommend strategies to achieve a 100% zero carbon target for the electric sector by 2040.
Maybe Lamont is a smarter guy than you think ?
Perhaps he has realised that “100% zero carbon target” will undoubtly lead to extortionate electricity costs, inevitable power shortages, blackouts, freezing/sweaty offices , etc etc.
Maybe he is just buying “insurance” against a very unpredictable future power supply ?
He could get all that money back very quickly by selling power when all other electricity supplies fail on a cold night !
And it seems that the plant is primarily Gas fueled with oil stored as a back up , incase some smart ass dopy green polly decides to kill all gas usage !
