Just received my 30A 10S BMS and noticed something seems to be missing.

Is it supposed to be like this or is it faulty?

can't tell what the p/n is on those, but if they are the transistors that connect the balancing resistors to the cells, then that channel won't ever drain down a high cell. :/

If you look below the gap about an inch, there's the transistor! not sure of this design, but checking all the other one they sell, they all have a missing (or relocated) cell one transistor.

Have you connected it to your pack to check if it works?

Even after connecting BMS/PCM to a battery pack, some of these circuits require a quick shot from a charger to turn ON. I scratched my head a few days with that situation before I finally tried charging and after that everything worked as intended.

the transistors are held in place by a small spot of hi temp adhesive when they are mounted to the pcb by the placement machine before they go into the reflow bath. the transistor fell off when it was immersed in the solder bath and then it stuck over on some other parts as it came out of the reflow bath.

you can send the seller that picture and this explanation and they will replace it as a manufacturing defect. do not use it.

That is the reason You should check BMS before conecting adn wrapping. I'm sure it was bad soldered and fall. It has happened to me in other new low cost chinese BMS. Contact supplier and send him that pic. There is a chance that BMS it would be built like that.

no it was never soldered. it fell off before the reflow could cover the surface.

if the transistor is still present and stuck to the pcb then you can unsolder it from where it is stuck and put it back on top of the solder bumps that are present and then heat the three legs with a soldering iron to solder it back down.

but contact the seller and show him your picture. he will use the picture to get a credit from the manufacturer. saves him the $8 it cost to buy the BMS from the manufacturer

Listing for the 40A version from the same seller shows the missing part as well! coincidence ?

Ask the seller or hook it up and see if it works properly.

There is a chance it is built like that, You can see the same transistor 10mm below. that is connected to the main cathode of the battery, so more chance that it works like that

? So are those lipo cans or lifepo4 cans on duffs belt.
Oh I remember, Lipo he went up in a ball of FIRE.
Over a one eye gutter girl Layla
Because of his one eyed third leg.

Seen that episode.
He makes me sick.
Oh Layla you dirty girl.
