Problem solved... The charger needs to be switched to 110V.
The info in em3ev website says:
"Set charger to the appropriate voltage if there is a voltage selector switch. It will be located next to the AC supply plug. If there is no voltage selector switch it will be an auto switching charger."
I totally missed this switch when looking at the charger. I think I was looking for something different and assumed that my charger is auto switching. My fault anyway...
