i dismantled a lead acid car battery some years ago, wasn't very careful and landed up some slight lead poisoning (persistant metal taste in mouth), I cant imagine the lead levels these guys injure.

Lead gets into the body and don't really leave, They have found bones with streaks of lead in them. Neurotoxin, no levels of lead is safe. The sooner that lead batteries are put out of use the better.
